Traprain Law hill race

This race is quite like a borders league in the it gets very narrow very quickly. So we were jogging along the riverside path and it was undulating, and I went over my ankle on one of the short descents. If was fairly unrunnable, so I waited to let the slower runners pass to walk back to the finish. But they were taking ages. So I ended up wandering along to the river crossing. Then ended up with good friend Dick Wall mooching around with the sweeper. Then really wrecked it on the descent so got a lift back with a Marshall. Sigh

Road running 50:00 [3] 5.5 mi (9:05 / mi)

So fucking hungover it’s untrue. But I had to get my shit together to get to the nurse for a blood test (hahahaha, pure vodka shots). The least faffy way to get there with Bertie was in the running buggy, and I was running late so up the hill to the drs. Then on to the Commie, dropped Bertie at Gymnippers then once around the seat. Which is quite a risk as what happens when your drinking catches up with you and run out of energy on the big hill and you don’t get back in time for pick up?

I felt really good and fresh though, until I hit Dunsapie and the wind hit me. Singing Taylor Swift songs the whole way around and was a bit disappointed no one asked me for a selfie. She is playing in Edinburgh just now and the whole city has gone taylor Swift mad. I think I resigned from work last night. Not 100% sure. Awkward.

Being out with work last night sadly so missed the HBT VKVK. Vertical kilometre of Arthur’s Seat is 6 x MFD (Duddingston loch car park to crow hill) and a bottle of VK at the top of each one gives you much needed energy. And that’s why HBT is a great running club.

Different route to the top of the crags (around the fence not over) and I might have been quicker. Hard to tell when I am so slow just now. It was a lovely day though!

Knees pretty sore. Not too noticeable on the route but bad there and back, esp the last bit on Dalkeith Rd with inadequate padding on my shoes.
