Thought I'd make the best of a bad deal and let Henry do the Chasers run at Beudesert while I take Fly for a walk with Mary. Ended up playing pied piper to about 10 and took them all for a 30 minute run with a bit of terrain thrown in.

JK 2014 Relays on Pwll Du.
Short mens chasers B team, second leg.
Matt Hartland/Me/Stodge.
Enjoyed this area a lot on the training weekend a couple of years back so was a bit disappointed to be only running 3km for my leg.
Matt put in a solid run to place us 15th. Pressure was on, didn't want to blow it for him. Ran quite strong to the start kite while fumbling with the map then slowed right down when arriving at the fence corner which I thought was a good place to take a bearing from. Planned every route and the terrain all fitted to the map. All was well up to 5 then a longer leg to 6 where I got carried away a bit then corrected myself to get back on track. Changed my mind going to 7 as the straight line route was a bit daft. 8 ok. 9 I went stupid on. Saw a control and went for it knowing it was in the wrong place. Quickly corrected it. 10 to finish were all fairly straight forward but taken with caution nevertheless.
Handed over to Stodge without losing any places. 5th/26 for that gaffel. Never seen the like. Hardly felt like I ran at all but was probably the cleanest run I've done to date. Stodge brought us home still in 16th place narrowly missing out on upsetting the chasers dream team of Stampy/Dredge/ Williams. Pipped us by only 70 seconds

Road bike 1:04:33 [3] 18.85 mi (17.5 mph) +208m
shoes: Forme Reflex road bike

Rode to the in laws for Easter lunch and possible brother/sister-in-law fisticuff spectating which unfortunately never materialised. Took the summer bike and got a wet arse instead.

Running 44:57 [3] 5.63 mi (7:59 / mi) +144m 7:24 / mi
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 3

Token gesture run over the chase trying to keep it pacey. Feeling guilty for not doing JK

Felt terrible today. Sore throat. Woolly head, weak. Took it easy. With Fly on the towpath and chatting with Tom Aston down at his Hazelstrine dirt jumps. Don't know if can keep away from those sets come summer. Probably break myself.

JK2014 Sprint Swansea University.
M40 old git category.
After working in Pyle yesterday.(about 20 miles from Swansea). A bit pissed off to have to drive home just to drive back again with Henry. Traffic was shit on the approach to Swansea but arrived in good time.
Looking forward to this and liked the look of the map in the countdown pens. (Not too complex for my slow tiny brain).
Steady to 1 going round the side, the long way, but kept composure. Time to plan a bit and get used to the scale on the way to 2. Intricate path network to 3 but ok. 4 was fine. going ok. Overshot 5 and got the features a bit mixed up losing maybe 10 secs. 6 - 12 were quite easy, overly so. Is this what they call scrappy planning. 14 was ok, visualised the whole area, spotted the target and it was there.
15? epic fail. Did the old, 'there's a control, it must be that one' trick. Was so far off took a while to relocate. eventually headed for that path that just stops. Lost 3-4 minutes on this one control and ruined the whole run. 16-18 were ok if taken slowly but then I knocked a kid over going to 19. He eventually got up and said he was ok but shook me up a bit so walked a while to 19 losing another minute.
Disappointing. I like sprint O but why does it have to be just a 20 minute blast. Even a 45 minute course would have been worth the journey.
39th/54 piss poor. Without that 5 minutes lost I'd have been around 15th which I'd have been happy with.
