Pilates/Yoga 45:00 [0]

Bit of a slower paced session. She decided that cos it's been a busy class we need taught how to do all the moves properly before speeding it up. Was quite helpful and still hard work in places!

Running 36:18 [3] 6.11 km (5:56 / km) +33m 5:47 / km
ahr:146 max:167

Easy run. Ran down to DVC, bit quicker than usual cos Andrew was late... Then Libby and I did a couple of laps of the Meadows before I headed home.
Plan this week is to take it a bit easier.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 58:57 [4] 7.41 km (7:57 / km) +100m 7:27 / km
ahr:167 max:179

Race the Castles/SHI Relay, Leg 1.
Went much better. No real mistakes anywhere just a couple of hesitations. Found the terrain really tough especially in marshes and in some of the long grass. Just could not hang on to the pack at all but managed to finish not too far behind Jenny.
Still some way to go but I'm sure this is better than last year and nice to have a better run and remind myself that I can still orienteer.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Orienteering 1:34:53 [3] 8.81 km (10:46 / km) +354m 8:58 / km
ahr:155 max:177

Race the Castle/SHI individual, Short Brown.
Really not the best race ever. Was pretty bad from the off... Found an unmarked fence on the way to 2 and then got thrown off with where I was. Went too high for 3 and found a different control and then when I left it went in the complete wrong direction to 4. And when trying to fix it I ended up in the wring place again, what an idiot... Saw Jenny at this point and sort of hid so she didn't see me, cos I didn't want her to know I was doing badly and it to put her off! The rest went better but I was just plodding my way round and not really enjoying myself. Head was totally weird again and I was feeling a bit light-headed/dizzy and just couldn't concentrate: potentially why I was being an idiot at the start.
So perhaps I'm just not properly better from being ill? That or it's just the fact that I have a lot going on atm and I'm busy and stressed.

Note
(rest day)

Went to the JOK chasing sprint, sat in the car with Kirstin for a bit (neither of us had planned to run) then walked up to watch the chase.

Strength and Conditioning 1:00:00 [3]

Managed to get in a bit earlier so had time for 2x circuit and a bit more weights. Need to get more sleep!

Orienteering 49:20 [3] 7.49 km (6:35 / km) +86m 6:14 / km
ahr:149 max:171

FWTN #1 Edinburgh City.
Not feeling my best, very tired legs and brain wasn't totally working either. Bad route out of 2, ran in the wrong bit at 4, sloppy to 7,8, bad route to 13, had to stop to get the right route to 19, almost ran past 22. So not my best ever run! Bit of trouble at some of the crossings too, def stood still for more then a minute!

Cycling 50:00 [1] 15.0 km (3:20 / km)

Tuesday Oct 14, 2014 #

7 AM

Strength and Conditioning 45:00 [2]

Got in late again and then I had to wait 10mins for a platform so didn't have time for a circuit. Was also feeling a bit off balance and dizzy, not sure if just because I'm tired or whether I'm getting ill...
6 PM

Running warm up/down 16:35 [2] 2.82 km (5:53 / km)
ahr:145 max:163

To DVC then semi lap of the meadows.

Drills warm up/down 5:00 [1] 0.48 km (10:25 / km)
ahr:141 max:153

Running intervals 29:00 [4] 5.19 km (5:35 / km)
ahr:159 max:177

1,2,3,4,3,2,1 mins with 2 min rest between.
64s, 0.27km, Pace: 4.01
122s, 0.47km, 4.20
181s, 0.67km, 4.31
246s, 0.89km, 4.38
181s, 0.66km, 4.37
124s, 0.44km, 4.41
61s, 0.24km, 4.15
Ran ~250m in the rests.
Seems like I maybe started too fast but it was the first one of the year and have tired legs from this morning so not too bad, hopefully more consistent next week! HR was dropping off as the pace dropped too so I think I did unconsciously just start taking it a bit easier.

Running warm up/down 17:15 [1] 2.4 km (7:11 / km) +36m 6:41 / km
ahr:136 max:152

Plod round a few loops in the Meadows then home.

Monday Oct 13, 2014 #

Running 46:41 [3] 8.4 km (5:33 / km) +52m 5:23 / km
ahr:150 max:166

Monday run with Katrina and Sarah. To DVC, then canal to Meggetland and back up past Morningside Tesco and home.

Pilates/Yoga 40:00 [0]

Mind and Body, feel like if I keep going this will really help my strength and core.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Orienteering 25:18 [5] 3.9 km (6:29 / km) +135m 5:32 / km

Race the Castles, Stirling. Women Elite.
Perhaps wasn't in the best state for this race. Pre 9am start combined with little sleep and not much breakfast meant I had little energy in the later part of the race. Did really well in the castle until control 6 where I just couldn't figure out where the control was on the ground. I knew where it was on the map and I knew where I was just not how to get to the control. Just didn't twig that there were multiple levels and I was also confused by the overprint showing that there was an underpass which was on the edge of the circle so I thought you got to the control through from the archway eventually twigged that you had to go up to it and then the rest of the course was fine.
Kind of feel like there needs to be some more thought about how to map mutli level areas because both the maps on friday and today were very difficult to interpret

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 22:53 [5] 3.9 km (5:52 / km) +130m 5:02 / km

Race the Castles, Edinburgh. Women Elite.
Reasonably happy with performance, perhaps took the wrong route on 2 and 14 but otherwise was just a very physical course and I struggled because of that.

Friday Oct 10, 2014 #

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Orienteering race 19:47 [4] 3.5 km (5:39 / km)

Race the Castles Prologue, Open Women.
Very confusing map! Had to pause to 2 because I wasn't sure what level it was on. Then punched the wrong one at 3, realised straight away and fixed it. 4 was very difficult to tell how to get to it, partly because the circle covered the only way in and partly because it was a difficult place to get to! Accidentally went in someone's drive at 6 and ran straight across the road at 8 because I thought I knew where it was but didn't. Looking at it again, I think I went the wrong route to 10 and 11 I didn't realise the pavement on the Western Approach Road wasn't OOB so went all the way round. The rest was fine. Really enjoyed it overall and lost a lot less time than some!
