Note
(injured) (rest day)

Not the end to the weekend I wanted so very disappointed. I had expected to make it though at least the 3 individual races and probably the relay but I guess the terrain was much tougher than anything I've run on since getting injured and I ran very hard on Saturday. 2 good results though so fingers crossed for JWOC and the main thing now is to get fit.

Instead of seeing the physio again, my dad suggested seeing a private specialist because we have some sort of private health cover so I went to the GP this morning to get a referral and I have an appointment booked with a specialist on Friday with the possibility of an MRI scan.

Foot was quite sore walking around at the relays yesterday but I tried walking in various shoes today and it doesn't seem too bad, just a lot of tightness in my calf, so I'm not really sure what to make of it and I have no clue what training I can do so I'll just play it safe till Friday. Feeling quite de-motivated today but I'll go cycling or something tomorrow...

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Not running the relays, was really looking forward to the first leg on women's trophy but there was no way I would have been able to run, foot much worse than it has been for weeks :(

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

warm up, foot fine on the road but quite sore in the terrain, bit worried but thought I would forget about it once I started... (no garmin again)

Orienteering race (long) 1:21:03 [3] 9.0 km (9:00 / km) +175m 8:12 / km
(injured) shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

JK long, bit of a disaster but I'll try and sum it up...
Foot a problem right from the start, not helped by the steep climb straight away so I struggled to get going, spiked the first two controls (slowly) but on the way to 3 I started worrying if I would be able to finish, should I retire, etc and while I was thinking about this my compass was pointing one way and I was running another which doesn't usually work... got very lost and relocated wrongly a few times before finally relocating correctly, genuinely don't think I've made a mistake this big for years... A lot of things going through my head after this but I kept going, making some small mistakes because I just wasn't focused, foot gradually got worse and I considered retiring so many times, I really struggled in the quarry bit because there were some steep climbs and descents so I took my shoe off and was able to run after that although it was a bit tricky at times... once I crossed the road I found the running a bit easier (less rocky) and I could see Rhona ahead (she had just passed me) so I pretty much followed her for the last section and concentrated on looking where I was running which didn't work too well for me when she made a mistake at 20 and I didn't know where we were so that was more time lost... I made it to the finish but I don't know if I should have retired.

Running warm up/down 23:00 [2] 3.0 km (7:40 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

jog most of the way to the start, then short jog round the model map, foot a bit sore so a few drills to try to warm the tendon up, then just trying to keep warm because it was so cold! (no garmin because WRE)

Orienteering race (middle) 35:21 [4] 6.0 km (5:54 / km) +105m 5:25 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

JK middle, 1st w18 (4th 18/20 combined)
Mistakes at 1 and 2 so not a good start, very close to number 1 but couldn't see the pit, then I saw Meg over to the right (started 2 mins before me) so ran over there and relocated off a little pond, then she went sprinting to number 2 so I tried to keep up but of course our navigation couldn't keep up with our running and we overshot the control, reckon I lost about 2:30 in total on those 2, much better after that, I was just behind Meg for most of the course which pushed me to run faster, she pulled away at times but I would close the gap back up, I lost a bit of time half way to 8 where I got confused by other people on my course (about 30s) and then a small miss at 14 because the hill before the control didn't exist? I closed right up to Meg here and the lead swapped a lot for the next few controls, Rhona then caught us at 18 and we raced the last few controls to the finish.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [2] 2.5 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

warm down along the road

Event: JK 2014

3 PM

Running warm up/down 12:00 [2] 1.68 km (7:09 / km)
ahr:136 max:152 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

jog and some drills

Orienteering race (sprint) 17:11 [5] 3.4 km (5:03 / km) +65m 4:37 / km
ahr:187 max:198 shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

JK sprint, 2nd w18, 7 secs behind Meg (4th 18/20 combined)
Generally a good run, lost about 15 secs on 6 because I thought the white looked open which really confused me, another 5 secs on 18 stopping at a control just in front of it and then a couple of other small hesitations here or there, caught by Zoe a few controls from the end so just hung on to her. Bit annoyed to miss out by 7 seconds, I'm sure if I'd had a few more weeks of training behind me to sharpen up I could have saved those seconds on speed but under the circumstances I have to be very happy with that.

Running warm up/down 18:42 [2] 2.7 km (6:56 / km)

jog to the beach with some of the girls for a quick swim but the sea was miles away so of course we went anyway, took forever to get to the sea through ankle deep mud and very rocky bits but we made it! (didn't garmin all of it)
