VT Ultra FatAss 50k (first half) w/Zitch/Skip
Dropped water and food at the turnaround for everyone and then carpooled a bunch of people to the start who were also just doing the first half. 30+ people this year.

Temps were great. Started warm enough 45F that I didn't even want arm warmers which was great. I knew I wouldn't want them after the fist 15 min anyway. 51F when I finished but felt like 60 at times. Trails were pretty soaked.

Started a few seconds before everyone to give the dogs some room to run. Let Michael pass me at the top and waited for the large group which was going pretty slow. Ran away from them (ran w/ Kirby for a bit). Was wondering if I'd see Michael again and he made a wrong turn so I saw him nearthe first TA. We ran together to the turnaround.

At that point I ran the last 2 miles home. Skip ran off for a few minutes as I walked the last pitc of Homeplace. He rejoined as we started descending. His pace significantly slowed. When we got back he was limping. Hoping it heals quickly.

My pace was a bit faster than last year. Probably because I didn't do a killer workout the day before. Only walked the one time on Homeplace.

UPDATE: Skips foot became infected after 2 days. Went to the vet on day 4 for some antibiotics. Took him back after we got back from the hospital (day 7) and they were able to clean it better but still just antibiotics. Didn't show any progress for the next week so I took him back again. Vet pulled out a 2 inch long 1/2 inch diamater stick out of his foot. Healing ensued.
