SOW Day 5

Well. This was an epic day... After the long and (very) uphill walk to the start, I got chilled but I figured I'd warm up when I started running. The organizers were moving up the starts so that everyone went out by no later than 12. I started and totally blew up the first CP. I was cold and couldn't focus. I finally found it after too long, and headed off to 2. Couldn't find that one either and by then I was starting to get really cold. My arms were gettin red as the wind and rain started up. Decided to make my way to 11 and do the last 3 CPs and head to the finish. It just got colder and colder and then the fog/clouds settled in. Less than 10m visibility at some points. This kinda freaked me out so when I finally got to the finish I just kept on running right back to the arena. A little shaken up from this race and lots of cold muscles cramps, but glad to be nice and warm now :)

Fricken freezing cool down run from finish to arena. I've never ran downhill so fast

The portion of the way to the start that I actually ran... the other 100something metres of climb was a no for me

SOW Day 4

Well, the race stared off by throwing us right up a huge hill to the start triangle - urg.
After that, the first bit of the course made zero sense to me. It was tough running with lots on the ground, and I kinda just stumbled upon my CP without really knowing how I got there...
After a super pretty trail run beside a lake, I go to the next marshy section which was super fun and way easier running. Then onto the field section which was tiring, but a little easier.
Overall, an enjoyable course, virtually no mistakes! Only time lost from lugging my body up too many hills!

Fun hike with some Canucks up Mouttas Muragl! Took the funicular up, hike around the valley and next mountain along a contour, and then took the chairlift down. About 6.5km of panoramic views - amazing!

SOW Day 3 up in the mountains!

Super cool open terrain with tons of rocks, cliffs and stunning views. Took it pretty easy so I wouldn't kill my ankles with all the rock hopping, but I enjoyed every second of it. The views were incredible, there were some open fields to open up, and did I mention how BEAUTIFUL it was?!?!
A small bobble on 4 where I went too high, one on 7 where I thought I had gone too far but actually hadn't and that was about it!
Another highlight from today was me and Nicole getting chased by goats. Good times :P

SOW Day 2 - Middle
Nice terrain... if you exclude what was on the ground. Long grass covering rocks and logs made it very hard to open up and read the map on the run. The second half of the race had some more trails and nicer forest so I was able to speed up a bit. A little bobble on 3, and a bigger bobble on 7 were the only real mistakes!

SOW Day 1 - Long

Took this at a decent pace but wasn't ever pushing super hard. Lost some time on 2, 8 and 9 but other than that there were very few mistakes.
Lovely area that was pretty different than JWOC, but fast and open. Off to a good start!
I also jammed my big toe on a rock and it's all cramped up so that's super...
