MOM Long Distance, FE

Again, a rough go to #1, one re-entrant too far. Then I got a little more into the map and was looking up a lot more which really helped.
Longer leg to 5 and I got a little off my compass to start but I was also being pushed around by the green brambles. Little mistake on #7 where I saw Anton, and he and I both went to the same wrong cliff with immense confidence until we figured out we were too far to the right.
Small mistake on 10 where I wasn't 100% sure where I came up to the hilltop covered in big rocks, so I wandered around trying to find my giant rock for a while. Then after that I was pretty clean but I couldn't find the legs to fully open up. Had some fun using my spiderman skills to clamber up some massive rocks around 13 and 14. Was that the best route choice? No, but it was hecka fun.
I found that I was really in contact with the map today, which was essential in this terrain. Still struggling on visualizing the control circle and I really should have been using my control descriptions more. Overall, pretty happy with this race for my first time in this terrain and first real forest orienteering race this year.

Easy PM map walk with Anton at Navalmoral SW.
Focused on some precise map reading as well as looking up to spot the feature.
Absolutely incredible terrain.

MOM Sprint - FE

First sprint of the year + mmaayyybbeee 6 hours of sleep in the last 48hours = rough go.
Was not in it from the start and made a giant mistake to #1. I finally found myself again at 2, and then proceeded to go to 7 because it looked like a 1 on the map, and then FINALLY found #1. After that the race was fine but I was just a little out of it for the most part and legs felt like lead.
Super fun area though, and I saw an axe in the middle of the street going to 9.

(rest day)

Yeah so that didn’t work out. After a 3 hour delay we found out there was a safety issue with the plane and we had to get off. Trying again at 4:30pm but running on about 4.5 hours of sleep at the moment... great race prep!

Plan was to run to coach’s house and back, then do a short workout on the ARC trainer but once I got to mac my knee was feeling surprisingly really good so I decided to keep it that way and not risk anything extra.
