Lovely morning training at Arkell Hills! Ran part of the F21E Long distance course from OOCs, plus a little bit of extra at the north end from the M21E course. The OG plan was to race the M21E course #fullspeednomistakes but based on the rough past 2 weeks, that wasn't going to happen.
I started out confidently on the long leg to #1 and made sure to have a good plan. I didn't have a strong enough AP though for the last chunk of the leg and doubted myself coming into the CP, but recovered well enough. Good going from 2-4, and then a bit off my bearing going to 5 but recovered quickly. 6-8 were okay but I kept spooking a bunch of deer, and they kept spooking me so I was a little out of it. Here I ventured up to the northern loop from the men's course. It had more small saplings and I got pushed around here a bunch, and off my compass. I couldn't find #9 so I decided to head back down and play in the more open forest instead. Pretty smooth sailing for the rest of the course, cutting from 10-16 because I was running short on time. Small bobble on 17, shut my brain off.
Overall, today felt choppy and my skills felt a little rusty. But, based on how wrecked my body and brain were from this cold and school in the last 2 weeks, I'm okay with that. It was good to brush off the cobwebs.
I wish I could have played some more in the open fields and the stellar forest instead of that north bit, but I fully needed this adventure - was smiling so much!!

Could it be?!
Felt relatively okay today. Still not sleeping well but after a quick nap I wanted to get out and shake things out. Not coughing too much while running, and only a little bit extra after stopping. The rest of my body was not too motivated though, still was a struggle after 10mins.
Yay exercise! A little home strength so that I didn’t crap out in the middle of the gym and cough up a lung. Felt okay, but a lot of coughing near the end. Last night I slept terribly but was okay for the most part during the day.
Puffer is helping a lot, first sleep over 5 hours in the past 4 days last night! Still feeling exhausted and sore, and coughing a bunch once the meds wear off. Much better than Sunday though. I’ll try lift tomorrow.
So last night was whack. Full out coughing fit, lungs were going into a spasm and I could hardly get air in. Panicking a bit so went to the ER and waiting forever without seeing anyone. Came home, OD’d on honey and slept maybe 3 hours. Slept another 2 in the morning. Got to see a doc today and likely have some kind of viral infection that was put over the edge from the cold air and running hard last weekend. My lungs sound fine and there’s no fluid or anything. Got a puffer so let’s hope this works. Not training until I can feel a little more alive. My whole body aches from coughing :(
