Sunday Oct 23 #

9 AM

Running 3:08:00 [3] 17.0 mi (11:04 / mi) +2100ft 9:54 / mi
shoes: Altra Lone Peaks

Gold Hill down to Salina / Fourmile Canyon, up to Sunset, up Switzerland Trail to Gold Hill Rd, down to Gold Hill. Ran the first 10 without stopping. Took it easy on the Swiss uphill because (a) I was starting to feel under the weather but more importantly (b) the day was so perfect and I wanted it to last as long as possible. Ran the final stretch back to GH. Put some electrolytes in my water pack and didn't need to eat anything on the run.

I started and my 2016 trail running season with this route (see 28 May 2016 entry). Five months later, I'm ending it with the same route and with reflections on a very memorable and successful 5 months of outdoor Colorado bliss.

Cycling 1:25:00 [3] 12.5 mi (6:48 / mi) +1800ft 5:59 / mi

bike ride to the dentist then home. i tried to take it easy on the uphill as my quads are STILL sort of wrecked from this weekend. amazing actually - one of my longest recovery periods ever.

Monday Oct 17 #

Weight lifting / Calesthenics 1:00:00 [3]

spent about an hour doing the basics in the house this morning. still extremely sore from saturday, but starting to walk a little more normal than my sunday gimp. funny - i think the 'short' runs may be harder than long ones on the body... harder, faster work vs. taking a little more time....

had planned to bike home from work but leg muscles far too shot still. plus, the winds were gusting to 40 or 50. yeah, that's it.
