Running 5:18:00 [3] 26.0 mi (12:14 / mi) +3400ft 10:53 / mi
shoes: New Balance Zant Z4 #3 size 10

My third running of the unofficial "Lefthand Marathon" (see entries from 24 June 2017 and 17 Oct 2015). I've been sick with a week-long, nasty head cold. That meant missing a ton of running this week, including my scheduled long run yesterday. I felt quite a bit better today, so headed out at the late hour
of 9:45 am.

Up to Jamestown, up Overland, up Peak to Peak, and down Lefthand Canyon via Ward.

First half was pretty good, although the steepness of James Canyon above Jamestown (and until reaching P2P) never ceases to amaze me. I ran almost all of this, which really did a number on my legs, upon reaching P2P. Filled up in the St. Vrain River en route as I was really sucking down the H20 today... (a hot one!)

Ran/walked P2P... fairly slow. Was feeling quite tired and out of shape + sore at this point.

Very happy to reach Ward and a 10 mile downhill back to the house. Stopped over at Ward General Store for a purchased gatorade... needed that. At least was clouding up at this point...

My downhill back home was really slow. I wanted to quit / hitch a ride like 20 times. My knees and ankle were really hurting, on top of having bad cramps. I also was very hungry but didn't want to eat anything.

But I persisted.

By the 14 mile mark (8 miles left), my right knee really became inflammed. Had to run / walk in intervals until reaching the house. The last 2 miles were particularly brutal.

Don't know what to say... out of long distance running shape? But the Mummies didn't hurt so bad 2 weeks ago. I still blame the pavement for much of it!

Very very happy to get home after this one... my slowest running of the LH Marathon.....
