| Hatfield C 4-4 Castle C
Brown
Bedwell (2)
Williams
Hatfield C today lost the little chance they had of making the promotion pool in the Conference. Despite going 3-0 up half time, they managed to cave in and concede two late goals and allow Castle to earn an undeserved draw.
The game began at a furious pace with captain Dan Brown slotting home after barely a minute following a goal mouth scramble. Bedwell quickly added a second after being put through on goal and placing the ball between the goalkeepers legs. Gareth Williams scored the third with an audacious lob after a corner.
Castle got a goal back from a quick break before half time and showed that they hadn't just turned up to get panned by putting Hatfield under severe pressure until half-time.
Castle then got another goal shortly after half time to give themselves hope, but with fewer than 15 minutes remaining Bedwell looped a loose ball over the 'keeper to score his seventh goal in a remarkable season for the youngster.
It all went very very wrong for Hatfield with 5 minutes left when Castle took advantage of some sloppy defending to score two quick goals and salvage a draw. In the end Hatfield were lucky to keep it at a draw with some close chances at the end.
Overall there were several good performances from the Hatfield team, especially Matt Robison, who looks to be fully over his ankle injury. But it was a sad end to this term for a team who've played so well but have been so unlucky on so many occasions.
