Green course.
I am happy with the results considering I was still feeling the strain from yesterdays 5hr event.
One major mess up on 10 swinging too wide right.
Nice course and enjoyable park/preserve. Lots of root stocks

Cycling 3:59:00 [3]

This was really fun, Foot/Biking adventure race. Only my second one using a bike. I did good enough for 3rd place in men's solo which got me a cool medal and a container of yummy homemade brownies. Looking at the the maps and my route, I could have easily got first place if I had done it a bit differently, I think I was 1 CP and 4 minutes off 1st.

I choose biking first as I didn't want to do that at the end when I was fatigued and figured I knew my foot-O limits better. That was a good choice but the biking for me took 4hrs and didn't leave much time for foot-O. After 45 minutes my front fender fell off from all the jarring. Thankfully, I did have the tool kit and re-secured it (about 8 minutes) My plan was to get the Cemetery as there were too many controls there no to do it.
It took my 1hr 20 min to get to the Cemetery (I planned 1hr). That map was fun but it took me a while to adjust to the scale change. F12 was trouble for me as it took a while to get the correct bearings. There were at least 6 other teams looking for this at the same time. I was about to give up and realized I was too close to the stairs, made the adjustment, saw a bush (that I looked at before) and saw a new AR'er walk up and reach in (exactly what I was planning in about 15 seconds... Then everyone else swarmed in.
My big mistake was taking the east side trail to B2 (single track- up and down) when I should have gone back to the west side and rode the main trail along the river (which crosses over near B2.
More later when I can calculate times and distances...

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
shoes: inov8 Bare-Grip 200

Only managed 3 controls on foot :(
I was spent and could not move like I would have liked. I also cramped up after crossing the river/creek returning to finish. I attempted to cross the dam but when I got to where the water was flowing over, I changed my mind. I had one foot in the water and was positioning for the second. I could feel the current pushing my foot before I positioned it and could feel the slim. I made the wise choice to not continue and possibly get swept over the side. I retreated to see about a half dozen bystanders anxiously watching me. I ran downstream about 25m and crossed in ankle deep water.
I would have loved to do more of the foot-O. I need to work more on my planning for these.
