shoes: inov8 Bare-Grip 200

Red Course.
Batsto is a challenge and a always try to work on my map contact and focus.

I was doing fairly well up to #12 a long and draining leg. I attacked from the dry ditch / trail nw and ran a bearing for 75 paces coming right to the rootstock I felt was just south of the control. Nothing there. wondered around, out to the trail to the south and back in from a depression with a control to the rootstock and nothing. back out to the south trail farther west to a high point and another control and reattack same place no control. wondered north back to the dry ditch and took that methodically east to the second slight reentrant heading south. was coming up on the same location and spotted a control to my right. That was it but it didnt even seem like it was in a reentrant. I didnt spend any more time there trying to figure it out. I Just wanted to leave the area.

I thought #13 would be cake as I passed it going to #5 and going to #12 but I was flustered after spending over 20 minutes reattacking #12. I missed to the right and had to double back. Then I did the same thing on #14 not being able to keep a bearing and butting myself on a completely wrong trail.
I hate a long ride home after mistakes like that.

On the bright side - I did have some really good navigation before that.
