First of my allowed training runs and the one muscle that's causing most of the pain still hurts. I was able to run and use my right leg, which is a huge improvement. Also, now as I enter this, after 2 sets of PT exercises it feels better and not painful. Hopefully I'll be able to ease/heal it back into running form...

Had a perfect day and summited Pikes no problem. By the time we made it back to Barr camp we were already not looking forward to the rest of the descent, and somehow we made it down with stinging feet and sore legs. I'm going to sleep well tonight...!

Sweet! A Trail Running Entry! I woke up super early to do the Incline with Sean and his High School Cross Country team who are here from Minnesota for high altitude and hills training. I definitely PRed this by at least 2 minutes. My time was 25 high but that was starting up a ways higher than usual so I figure I probably would've been around 27 minutes. My old record was 29:59

My hip is a bit sore but there's no pain at all and I can tell that by stretching it and doing my PT it will calm down again, just like after Oing. I'm still not going to do any running for the rest of the week...

I decided to play hookey from work tomorrow so that Emily and I could join Sean and his old high school cross country team as they climbed Pikes Peak on Tuesday. It would also be Emily's first 14er. We started out late after work and worked hard to get up to Barr camp, just as it was getting dark.

Event: RMOC Sprints at Observatory

Crazy day!!!

I woke up at 6:30 to ride downtown to cheer on Emily, Sean, Gina, Matt, Amanda, Todd, Issac, Elizabeth, and I'm sure there were a few more people I knew but didn't see.

Gina and Emily finished the 5k in 5th and 6th with times of 17:58 and 18:09 I think, I didn't see the official results. Sean finished the 10k in 37:37

Then I drove up to Nederland for Orienteering.

I could run and it didn't hurt!! Although now, after the races, I'm sore again but still no pain... This was a good almost totally clean run. I could definitely feel my lack of fitness but otherwise I felt great. A good sprint course as well.

Wow, complete opposite of the first sprint. This was a very tricky technical sprint with many opportunities to make mistakes... I was still able to run pain free but now I was really feeling my lack of training, plus I was making mistake after mistake which let to me hunting for many of the controls. This was slower than the first even though it was shorter. Oh well.

Went to a BBQ at Jan and Jen's place after. That was fun!

I missed last nights exercises and this morning I could feel that my hip was more stiff than usual. I guess these are doing something...!

PT Report:
Went to get my orthotics checked and updated. My current ones, made by Dr. Gremillion almost 10 years ago now, are still good and they correct me a little, but not quite enough. So, I'm getting a second pair with more correction to hopefully bring my knees into proper alignment. My feet and arches are good and normal, but for some reason my knees turn inwards as I stand/walk/run so the orthotics will cause me to suppinate (pronate? I can never remember which is which) more so that my knees turn back outwards to a more nuetral position.

Comments, concerns, suggestions?????

Another PT session and after being zapped by the thingy, I was then twisted and pulled into interesting positions that have left my hip feeling strange. This is probably how it's supposed to be, it just feels weird because it's been out of alignment for so long...?

A road ride with Emily. We met at the GOTG visitors center, rode all the way up Centennial/Woodmen, to Rockrimon, to Vindicator and back to Centennial and back home up over Mesa Drive. We tried to stop for lunch a few times but the restaurants were always closed so we ended up eating at the OTC.

Camped out last night and got up waaaaaay too early this morning. We were on the trail by 6am and made it to the summit of Shavano by 9:15. The trail got obliterated by a late spring avalanche so we climbed the East ridge of Shavano instead of taking the usual route. Then a quick jaunt over to Tabeguache, and after going back over Shavano we descended The Angel of Shavano, which was a super fun glissade on a snowfield that saved us a lot of knee pounding downhill.

The weather was a little cold at first, but then a perfect bluebird day without a single cloud all day! Definitely an awesome trip. Oh yeah, Shavano and Tabeguache are two of Colorado's 14ers...

PT Report:

Well, according to him the muscles in my right hip are in a state of overuse... I could've told him that, but he also thought it was only the muscles and he gave me a set of exercises to do twice a day, and wants to "Mobilize" my hip, a fancy work for stretching and massaging. He also put the weird tingling machine on my hip to get the muscles to relax.

We'll see... The exercises seem to feel good, I can definitely feel what hurts in my hip, and Wednesday is my next appointment. I'm also going to update my orthotics.

Trying this running thing again, and yep, you guessed it, I'm still injured. Grrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to do my best to start out slow with lots of rest, lots of stretching, and strengthening exercises. I'm also going to a PT I was referred to, to get evaluated and to get my orthotics updated.

Rode Stratton Open Space and DIDN'T GET LOST!!! That's a first for me... I was also on Sean's single speed, and just like Ute Valley a few days ago it was a challenge. I was sucking air at the top of some of those hills.

Went to a Pixie Race afterwards with Richard. A Pixie Race is full grown people racing down a downhill race track, on the smallest kids mountain bikes possible! Plenty of crazy people doing crazy things on very small bikes. It was amusing and they had good music, one of my favorite local bands was playing live!
