Monday Jul 31

Mountain Climbing 6:30:00 [2]
Long but slow day in the Swiss Mountains! We saw a huge herd of Ibex with yearlings and adolecents, then on the way down there were gobs and gobs of Blueberries, our fingers and tounges are still blue! Then, as we lost altitude there were first strawberries, then lower down raspberries. This day has been dubbed the Ibex/Berry/Annoying song in your head day!!

Sunday Jul 30

Mountain Climbing 5:30:00 [3]
Climbed a peak in the Grindelwald area, lots of scree and mud. On the way down we descended a fixed rope alpine system with chains and ladders bolted right to the side of the Mountain, it was steep and interesting...!

Saturday Jul 29

Hiking 1:30:00 [2]
Down from the hut...

Friday Jul 28

Rock Climbing 1:30:00 [2]
Two leads and a second pitch follow that I could have led, but I would have been sweating bullets while doing it...
Hiking 2:00:00 [3]
Up to the hut we were staying in for the night, it was steep and rained on us most of the way up the valley, amazing hut in an amazing setting!!!!

Thursday Jul 27

Road Ride 3:00:00 [2]
A road ride on mountain bikes halfway around Lake Thun, we were hoping to go all the way around but sightseeing and swiming slowed us down, plus we got turned around when I misread the street signs..Ooops!
Swimming 30:00 [2]
Here's a new one...swimming. We went swimming in Lake Thun, it was wonderful, there were pockets of coldish water, it's a huge glacial lake, but most of the water was pleasant enough. It was especially fun when a big lake boat came by and created fair sized waves...Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, love the lakes here in Switzerland!

Wednesday Jul 26

Trail Run 1:00:00 [4]
Run in the rain, 1300' vertical up the Stockhorn.
Rock Climbing 30:00 [2]
...no rain, just clouds.
Hiking 1:00:00 [2]
Hike down from the Stockhorn, in the sun!

Tuesday Jul 25

Hiking 1:30:00 [2]
Hiked from the Manlichen with great views of the Swiss Alps...except for the clouds!

Sunday Jul 23

Note
Travelling all day to Switzerland...

Saturday Jul 22

Adventure Race race 10:20:00 [5]
Raced in the Adventure Xstream Frisco Adventure Race. Events were run to and from kayak 2:30ish hours, then 1 hour of Orienteering, then 4ish hours of Trekking/Hiking, then 3:30ish hours of Mountain Biking to the Finish. Maiya and I won the 12 hour, co-ed category!

Addendum : Not only did we win the co-ed category, we had the fastest final time of anyone in the 12 hour category, by at least 40 minutes!!!

Friday Jul 21

Note
Lots of prep time for the Adventure Race tomorrow, and the trip to Switzerland, Sunday, has cut into training time, my work schedule is fairly hectic too, so that doesn't help...

Trail Run intervals 50:15 [5]
Oooh! Rough day. The intention was to run 4 mile intervals, the first went well at 6:33, the second was a struggle at 6:45, couldn't finish the third one... the fourth was out of the question, I couldn't get my breathing to cooperate and get into a good rhythm, so I limped...uh walked home :(

Trail Run 42:57 [3]

Trail Run hills 52:44 [5]
Five hill repeats on The Hill in Bear Creek Park, yes, The Hill is capitalized for a very good reason, did fairly well but those last two hurt, oh they hurt so much...nah I exagerate, they weren't all that bad, definitely hard... 1:41, 1:45, 1:43, 1:48, and 1:48

Sunday Jul 9

Orienteering 1:30:00 [2]
Picking up controls, in the rain again.

The weather cooperated perfectly for the O Meet. It was clear and except for about five minutes, rain free, until the last runner came in, then about ten minutes later the rain came with a vengance.

No complaints from me, I was happy that my runners recieved good weather and the rain felt good to be out in while I was setting and picking up the controls.

Saturday Jul 8

Orienteering 4:00:00 [2]
Setting controls in the rain, the kind of slow steady rain that gets everything wet, it wasn't cold though, which was good.

Friday Jul 7

Bike Commute 30:00 [2] 6.0 mi (4:59 / mi)

Wednesday Jul 5

Trail Run 53:31 [3]
Another warm rain storm with no wind, so of course I had to take full advantage of this unusual weather for Colorado, if I lived anywhere else I wouldn't be this excited about what other's would call bad weather...

Tuesday Jul 4

Note
Today was Tim's bachelor's party, yes, all day and most of the night too...

Monday Jul 3

Trail Run 47:38 [3]
Intended to do a long run on the Templeton trail in Palmer Park, but soreness from yesterday's races caused me to call it off early, I'm not looking for any injuries, it's too bad though, I missed running in an awesome rain storm, it's warm rain, for Colorado, with no wind. Very nice...

Sunday Jul 2

Orienteering race 19:48 [5] *** 2.72 km (7:17 / km)
spiked:10/11c
The first of the three races of the Sprint Festival. I did well enough, I was off on one control and lost about :30 seconds putting me in third place.
Orienteering race 21:25 [5] *** 3.17 km (6:45 / km)
spiked:7/8c
The second race, I lost about 1:30 on a bad route choice, I went through the green instead of around. I was fifth on this race which put me fourth for the chase start of the third race.
Orienteering race 18:11 [5] *** 2.66 km (6:50 / km)
spiked:8/9c
A good run insured that I would keep third for the overall rankings of all three races.

Saturday Jul 1

Trail Run 38:12 [2]
A short slow run to loosen up for tomorrow's sprint fest up in Wyoming.
