The Middle.

Another good race but now my slowness running through woods was showing itself. Technically this was a challenging course and I was spot on with my navigation, using the big topo features and executing wonderfully. Only once did I not follow my plan, where I crossed a marsh with waist high grass at the widest possible point, instead of the narrowest...

I did have three controls where I navigated to within the circle, and was a little to the either right or left, then turned my head and found the flag. Does this count as not spiking it?

Sprint Preliminary

A good race for me. I kept me head, made quick decisions and only made two mistakes in executing my routes. One mistake I didn't turn into the woods early enough and had to circle around a bit, the other was similar, I didn't cut in early enough and exited the woods at a different spot than I was aiming for. I really did spike every control when I got to it!

This run was good enough to get me into the Sprint Series Finals. As part of the NAOCs this was also the SS Finals and the top 15 men, top 10 women, started after everyone in a chase start, slowest from the Prelim first at 30 second intervals. It was madness!

The Final.

Another good race! The only person who started behind me who caught up to me was Clem. It was also interesting that out of #23 he followed me even though I went 90 degrees in the wrong direction for about 10 steps before realizing what I was doing. Heh heh heh.

The race was three loops coming back through the start finish area. I only made two mistakes, the one above, and from 5 to 6 I didn't see the "around" route choice so I battled through the thick green.

Ran to the CC track and ran only 5 x 200 sprints with 400 rest between each, in an effort to get my legs moving a bit this week...
