Orienteering race 3:03:30 [3] *** 8.7 km (21:06 / km) +700m 15:02 / km

Blue at O in the Oaks at Joe Grant
It was a very physical course. I ended up exhausted and bruised. Had a couple of mistakes on the first few controls then started hitting them quickly. Then came the long leg. I ran well all the way into the circle, and even knew I was there, but couldn't find the control. I had to relocate twice, each time confirming that I was right about where I was. It turned out eventually that the control had fallen over against the rock in some tallish grass. That was very frustrating and turned an okay race into a bad one.

training at Joe Grant with Russell and Chad. We all ran together with only one person looking at the map. Then when he got us there, the other two had to say where we were. We alternated who was doing the navigation. I thought this exercise worked well and we got training in both navigation and running through difficult terrain. I was certainly tired by the end.
