Oct Odyssey Day 2
Orienteering a bit like a bell end again, but preferred the moorland compared to the forest yesterday. Again thought the level of planning / controlling / mapping etc was a bit below where it could have been.
Was in a boo from #3 to about #14 due to binning lots of time looking for #3 where half the control feature didn't really exist IMHO and the control was tucked down by the lip of the ditch. Took me 3 goes running along the ditch to find it. Lots of little other losses after this where I was just switching off and thinking about other things. Was a bit bored by #14 and thought about retiring but then decided to stop being a fanny and finish the course. Perked up towards the end as the course got more interesting and the heather a bit less.
A bit of a frustrating orienteering weekend at times, glad next weekend will be more running-focused. Still enjoyable overall though but I'll think again before returning. Anyhow, Jay-T and I had some fun exploring Darlington a bit (if Travelodge, Beefeater and Morrisons counts).

Hamsterley Forest OCt Odysessy day 1.
Pleasantly surprised by the woodland being quite nice, but had a few problems interpreting the vegetation at times and concentrating. Sadly a couple of controls seemed to be in the wrong place (#7, #19) so this was a bit annoying but still enjoyable overall. Spent about 10 mins faffing around 19 trying to a) find it and then b) confirming it wasn't in the right place. Inspector Jay-T agreed with my findings too.

Post run OMM training up onto the moor. Spotted a control for tomorrow oops. Was quite sunny but a chilly wind. Legs pretty tired by the end and glad I only did 11km.

Felt like a zombie running round, mind drifting off and time just kind of flew past after a few km. R knee a bit sore today after intervals last night, bit of a shock to the system.

First time on the sports field by the hospital. A bit uneven underfoot (although no rabbit holes) but is reasonably flat so much.

Still a bit of a way off where I want to be by the duathlon in a few weeks time. Knee was a bit sore after this, was a bit of a shock running at sub 4 min/km.
