OMM day 2 - shortened courses, micro-faff at start, pootled around rest of day. bit slow to begin with but moving better by end. windy. awesome food at the finish. so good just to be able to plod round the area absorbing the atmosphere, early morning, (and wind), in the knowledge that it was kind of in the bag as long as we avoided any major drama.

no blisters (just vaselined). inov 8's good. legs not too bad at all, shoulders hurting though.

awesome weekend, thanks Nic.

From now on, I think it will be elite / long score everytime I run with a male in a MM. Kind of excited, kind of bricking it. LAMM Elite next year maybe!

OMM A Class Day 1 with Nic.

Felt pretty good for most of the day. Nic and I very well matched, he was a bit stronger on the runnable stuff (especially flat) bit I seemed to cope marginally better on the really rough walking type stuff and up a few of the steep slopes. Best MM partner I've ever been with pace-wise.

Massive tailwind blew us up the W part of the area, where we seemed to select (/fluke) a good route choice through the forest. Then it was up onto the cheviot for some fun in the mist. We seemed to nail all the controls here, and looking at the splits seems a few teams had some fun out there. Knew we were onto a good one given the marshals were telling us we were the first ones through around #4-#5. Then back down the mist and slogging back into the wind now. Morale started dipping slightly, then I did a good bit of faffing, including leaving my map by a stream then having to run back, dragging Nic away from nailing #7 and then my laces coming undone again and again and again. Nic gave me some deserved abuse and some priceless quotes about how "if we lose this by 30 seconds....", which we were able to enjoy later on at midcamp.

Big overnight lead, oops. A few comments from some was therefore expected, and unsurprisingly delivered.

Really warm and toasty overnight, if a bit windy. Nic took the windy side of the tent (cheers). Was a bit worried about the tent blowing over, but we'd got a relatively sheltered spot so there wasn't much we could do. Reckon I got about 8 - 9 hours sleep in 2 hour chunks. Utter Bliss!
