Up Dumyat via an attempt to find a direct route through Abbey Craig (failed) and then through Stirling uni. Awesome to have this type of run pretty much on the doorstep, only about 1.5km of park / road running before getting into the hills. Followed the fell race route in the mid section of the run, apart from when I went a bit different. Was about 49.5 / 50 minutes.

Legs a bit tired generally, but really nice views on the top, good weather and frozen ground crunching nicely beneath my feet. Life is good.

Stuc A'Chroin (Munro #30)

Given the amount of snow around and needing to get back early, wanted to stick to something straightforward where my lack of ice axe wouldn't be a problem. Out and back was a bit of a slog, but a gorgeous day of clear blue skies and little wind until the very tops.

Snow above 600m was quite hard work in places, but all good training. Saw one person in total on the hills. Rather entertainingly picked up a little dog from the farmhouse on the way back (score), and had to run back to the farmhouse with it as it seemed so keen on coming with me. Lady was pleased.

Only slight blip was when fording the river on the way back... it was about "groin" deep where I crossed on the way out but on the way back I crossed a short distance away and ended up being submerged, along with all my belongings in my rucksack, up to my chest for about 5 seconds before I managed to swim to the other side. Phone was the main victim initially, but I seem to have dried it out and got it working :-). The water was bloody cold too.

Hello Stirling.

Exploratory run up to the Abbey Craig and the wallace monument. This place is William Wallace crazy. Slipping all over the place in my Brooks in the rain and mud underfoot and very hilly to boot.

Pleased with the location of my humble abode for training.

Farewell short one with the dogs round Burnstump. Slow pace as still a bit of ice / snow on the footpaths and I felt terrible.

LOC Turkey Sprint #3 - Mass start odds and evens in Great Tower.

Really fun race, a bit hectic at the start trying to figure out which route to begin with but myself and a lot of the other "quicker ones" chose the same route to begin with the evens first. Was around Will Rigg for a short while before either I got away or he took a slightly different route. Punched the change over control about 10 seconds down on what looked like a kid (and a very quick one at that) so a slightly panicked look at the map to confirm the evens that I'd just done was a bit longer than the odds (which I'd presumed he'd done).

Kept it safe to the end and thankfully I didn't get M14'ed or whatever the expression is.

As soon as I finished, legs were really tired so now time for a bit of rest, moving things up to Stirling and figuring out where I'm going to live next week.

BG Leg 2 Recce Solo

Great trip out on the Helvellyn ridge. Excellent weather in that there was only a slight wind up to 700m but was slightly windy above 800m or so. Pretty cold still on the tops though and main problem was getting enough water - streams frozen and wasn't warm enough to eat large amounts of snow.

Snow the whole way once I got onto Clough head and incredible views

Pace wise wasn't pushing it but wasn't just walking either, so pleased to beat the allotted c4.5 hours on the BG schedule.
