STAG Orienteering Score in a country park.

Really enjoyable overall, nice crash around in the little bit of snow that arrived overnight. Took the view that I was just going to get them all given the late penalties didn't seem too harsh. Had quite a bit of trouble finding the more technical controls in the snow as the controls were just stakes and training kites that were sometimes basically on the floor, a bit more like a treasure hunt at times. Couple of questionably placed controls too but got my act together when a junior caught me up, but I managed to get away from him after a few more controls.

Ben Chonze (Munro #31) with Sarah.

Amazing day out in fantastic weather - no wind, blue skies, but a chilly c-5 on the tops to remind you it is still definitely winter.

Everywhere frozen apart from the main roads, so had to leave car in Comrie then run in. Pretty much snow / ice the whole way, deep snow from c400m - 700m but once we were above that the top layer was generally firm enough not to break through. Bit of a slog up the W side of Ben Chonze, but the fantastic views and spotting a few snow hares were a fitting reward. Middle portion of the descent was a bit annoying when collapsing through the top layer and smacking shins on the next bit of ice.

cruise around Abbey Craig. Feeling really full from overeating today. Left shin quite painful too. Boo. Ground pretty frozen too. But saw quite a few deer, surprising.

Birthday explore out and up west towards bridge of allen.

Bit of a westerly tonight, but really nice conditions overall. Nice balanced run with a few interspersed climbs making it a bit more interesting than the standard slog up Dumyat. Lovely.

Note

Had a bit of time to think about running goals for the first 2/3 2015. a bit dependent on where I live but the gist is it is time for the year of "elite", in the following order:

> climb 100 munroes if I get extended in Scotland for the year, 50 otherwise
> complete the Elite course at LAMM definitely, OMM Elite dependent on partner!
> Bob Graham in June / July
> Podium at the Klets on the Saunders
> Harvester relays podium with NOC
> Plan another interesting Red Bull Event
> Complete JK Elite both days
> Do a foreign event

and most importantly, have fun whilst doing it.

For the latter part of 2015, may look at doing more shorter stuff and parkruns etc.

Stumbling up the snow to Dum-ay-at (#4)

Really nice conditions cruising round - snowing pretty much throughout and only at times was it a bit unpleasant in the eyes. Bit slushy near the bottom, but good accumulations once I was onto the moor which meant it was hard work, but in a good crunchy snow-just-fallen way.

Great feeling to be making the tracks to the summit, only other people I saw were 6 nutters half way up pushing their bikes towards the top. Way too much snow to think about cycling for me.

Hintervals up to the William Wallace Monument.

No precipitation when I looked out the window but naturally by the time I got to the door there was a nice flurry of snow, followed by various intensities of hail whilst I was out.

Up and down the tarmac road, good interval length and avoids getting muddy, nice. Main focus was just on staying warm in the hail, but managed quite consistent times.
