Fantastic last day out. Had it all - heat, heavy rain, brutal climbs, scrambles, annoying rocky descents, meeting a nice few randomers. Feeling good but legs tired!

Best day out on the hills for a long while.

Slioch with Sarah and Chris.

Just walking apart from a few races uphill which Sarah instigated. Another gorgeous day with views out the coast, inland to An Teallach etc. Legs a bit tired generally but responded well when I tried a bit.

Back on the running tomorrow, maybe.

Central torridon munroes.

Hoped to treat myself to new pair of Inov 8s today but unfortunately I have brought two right feet from my stockpile of new Inov-8s at home. So with one old L shoe and one R shoe I set off on what turned out to be a massive bog trotting to begin with before seeing Chris Sarah dropping back from first munro.

Really nice traverse to second munro, then following Steven Fallons Kamikaze route straight down the steep rocky and heathery descent. Legs really tired from this point and trudged up the final munro rewarded with vast views out to the . Sarah summited via a slightly different route just as I was about to set off so jogged back down together which was nice.

All in all a fantastic day.

Liatach Rigdge.

Great evening jaunt. Up to the western summit of Mullach an Rathain with Chris and Sarah, just walking. Nice steep route but got a bit midged. Into the clouds from c600m. Then decided to split as I was keen to do the ridge as Chris and Sarah headed down. Was pretty nervous about the ridge but it was OK - a lot of options for wimping out round the side of the lumps (which I generally avoided) and only a few areas where I felt exposed and unprotected.

Maor faff finding the route off Spidean Choire Leith at the Eastern end - I first followed a scree shoot which looked a bit like a path but thankfully I finally twigged when the loose rocks I was dislodging were flying down the hill that this maybe wasn't the main path. Then I thought I had to follow the stream down (again scree and natural erosion made it look like a normal path), went up and down this but it dropped over a sheer waterfall. then along the ridge path... lost about 30 minutes. so relieved when I did find it, had a proper fist pump and jig.

saw no one else on the ridge so good job I didn't fall off.

Friday Night Hill Run up Ben Vane.

Nice warm evening so thought I'd kick holiday week off with a cheeky Corbett or two. L shin is still sore but this was a slow soft one mainly in terrain. Realised there was no way I was going to be able to fit the other Corbett in the remaining daylight - quite slow underfoot below 400m or so where the grass has really grown.

Confirmed Stirling till 25th August, then White Rose, then London from 30th August. exciting(ish).

Trying to make up for not running last night. Feeling sleepy as expected and annoyingly my left shin is starting to hurt, which is also as expected as I was starting to feel a bit fitter. Think the hammering along the WHW at the weekend probably overdid it.
