Day 2, 3 munroes

Not a bad nights sleep. Quite chilly so glad I'd packed my down gillet as well as the usual fleeces. Nice 6.30am early morning start in the cool (and midge-less) air. Legs still feeling quite tired so just taking it easy.

A rather embarrassing nav error in the most on the first munro of Beinn Mheadhoin saw me do a 180 degree off one of the knolls prior to the summit and then start descending back towards midcamp. Very rough descent through terrain down to the col before thankfully finding a bit of a trod up the other side. A bit of a bog trot over to the final munro (Beinn Bhreac) before linking up a series of great trods down to Derry lodge. Enjoyed seeing many others just heading out for their days outing when I was approaching the salvation of the car.

Really struggling on the final 5km track run back to the car. Smashed a huge McDonalds afterwards.

Body:
> R knee coped well, a bit sore this aM
> L shin - no real issues.
> R hip - some random pain around Braeriach, hmm not had this before

Cairngorms Solo Wild Camping Day 1, 6 munroes.

Opted for a Cairngorms wildcamp due to a favourable forecast in the east. A good midging at Linn of Dee followed by a lovely valley run to Derry Lodge and up to Corrour Bothy. A heavy laden bag (maybe 7kg?) meant the pace was more of a shuffle.

A bit chilly on the Cairn Toul and Braeriach ridge in some showery and breezier weather. The plateaus were all in mist and GPS low on battery so nice to get some old school map and compass action. Wasn't 100% on the route down from Braeriach to the col at the Pools of Dee, no trods down the route at all, a bit ropey at the top section which initially appeared too steep in the mist but got down fine in the end.

Massive (but enjoyable) slep to get back up the other side to Ben Macdui. Nice bit of rain on the summit. Struggling a bit on the out and back up Derry Cairngorm.

Bit of a faff finding a spot to camp. Got intel from two other lads that it was a midge-fest down by Loch Etchichan - at 850m high didn't think they'd be that high at this time of year. So spent a good while trying to find some grass that was flat, not full of boulders, not a bog but with a river nearby. Ended up camping at just below 1100m brrrr.

Still got midged quite badly pitching my tent and then whilst cooking, but a bit of robot wars on iPlayer for entertainment more than made up for it.

A great day out.

Lochearnhead Corbett Bagging

After a lot of faffing about which hills to go up today (the joys of having time!) opted to cut down on the driving and go for shorter Corbett bagging. Felt reasonable on the climbs fitness wise but legs still a little tired. Left shin not too bad. Bit misty/rainy out.

Just saw three lovely old folk out walking... this retirement thing gets evermore appealing!

Blidworth without the wolf pack this time. legs still tired but seemed to be ticking along quite nicely, hasn't taken that long for some form of fitness to emerge. knee fine. lots of rolling needed for left shin before and tugging a lot but doesn't seem to getting worse.

the man of leisure experience will be limited though, they've concluded I'm not a fraudster so wil start new role week aftet next.

WR Relays, 120+, with my Dad and Andrew Clark (EBOR, planner day1/2)

Great burn up as usual, but was lacking the pace to really attack it. Manic at the start with so many going for the same control but followed JT nicely to get it in about 2nd place. Messed up #3 a bit putting me a bit behind Marcus so it was a great charge along the forest tracks to try to close the gap. Marcus, Romauldis and I all together in the middle bit before Marcus drifted off, then I was just trying to hold on to Romauldis for as long as possible...

Won the class despite my Dad going walkabout, some nice tactical entries on the relays to spread teams around the classes.
