A pretty frozen drive out to the hill. A toasty -4 in Fort William descended to a -9 degrees at Fersit. Didn't actually feel that cold but I was proper wrapped up. Quite entertaining cycling in such frozen conditions and just about avoided completely stacking it.

Days just don't really get any better than this. Pretty much still on the tops, views for miles around (over to the Cuillin, Cairngorms, Ben Nevis). Taking breath away stuff.

Thankfully more footprints today from one chap who''d been up on Sat. A tricky bit getting up Meall Cian Dearg, but I forged a new path round the side based on recollections from some youtube videos I'd watched the previous night. Lovely up on the ridge. Very hard work up Stob Coire Easain in the lee off the ridge with the accumulations of snow. Cloud closed in just as I got to the top, bugger.

Pretty cold air temperature throughout and any bit of wind had a good bite. It must have been c-10 on the tops so good to know I just about have the kit to cope with that now. Would have been nice to have some skis at times today.

Saw another two old fellas who complained about my stride length (snow tracks) haha...

Again, achilles pretty good, not sure whether the shoes have broken in boot loving them.

Chno Dearg munros (x2).

Nice winter expedition into the munroes. Pretty late onto the hill as I'd just had winter tyres fitted in the AM (good job, road to Fersit was frozen). Hoped to find tracks through the snow, but sadly I was the first one out since the recent snowfall so off I went ploughing through. Snow wasn't that deep, maybe ankle/low shin, but it was highly sapping.

Actually used crampons for the first time getting over a frozen river and to try ripping my trousers. no real technical issues at all. Once on the ridge, going was a lot easier with the snow having been raked off by the wind and dumped in the valleys below.

Nice sunset.

Headtorche on once Chno Dearg, crackiing descent in the snow with the light on seeing across the valley. Felt like a proper expedition.

Didn't see a soul. I should really tell someone where I go beforehand.

good news is that whilst the week before the boots were killing my R achilles within 200m, it felt pretty good today.
