orienteering race (DVOA LOng Course Champs) 2:21:13 [4] 3.2 km (44:08 / km) +115m 37:25 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon

It was a great fall day to be out in the woods and I really enjoyed it. I was very greatful to the course setter for setting a normal brown for those of us not up to a really long course. As we live 5 minutes from Green Lane Park, I spend a fair amount of time there walking the dog or just walking for exercise, so felt very comfortable in the woods. Also I have set courses in this park a number of times in the past so I felt that I would be fine and generally I was. I made one stupid error going to number 2 and I drifted down hill a few contours going to 6 but that isn't suprising for me as I'm not very good with contouring but I was saved by my daughter as I saw her running just below me and knew by her pace that she was running on a trail and that made me realize that I had dropped down father than I thought, so I stopped to check my map, turned around and directly behind me and up the hill a bit was my control. I had a great time and enjoyed the course.
