Orienteering 1:25:16 [3] 4.4 mi (19:23 / mi)
shoes: IceBug Olx 4

Summer Series event at PWNF, hosted by Michael Laraia and Valerie Meyer. If this is a predictor of orienteering races this summer, I'm doomed. I had trouble on nearly every control I went for, which was approximately 1/3 of the available controls.

#1, I got to the feature (a ditch) and ran up and down until Heidi got there, and she found the control, small, hung high. OK, we're working with mini-controls.

#2, I got to the general area and saw lots of similar features. I ran around them until Dave showed up and he found the control, hung high.

#3, I spent time in the wrong reentrant until Dave and Heidi found the control in the right one, hung high.

#4, I got there before Dave, looked in the center of the circle, didn't find the control until Dave got there.

#5 I ran off the map and headed for Joplin Road. Got there through someone's back yard, and reentered the park. Headed for the control and caught up with Florence. We punched together. My GPS track indicates that I may have done a 180 for part of this leg.

#21 I went together with Florence, but she saw it before me.We met Addie and Mei-An on the trail.

#22 I found a control by myself. Yay!

Finish: someone pointed out that there were roads and trails on the other side of the map. I would have used them to relocate if I'd known they were there.
