I drove Florence to the Forest Glen Metro, then came back home and basically ran the same route. Traffic on Georgia Ave was terrible, but the parallel streets just inside the neighborhood were empty. I suppose that's a triumph of modern traffic engineering, and it sure makes the neighborhood a more pleasant place to be. The commuting arteries, though, are miserable. (I used the same back streets driving to the Metro that I ran on a few minutes later.)
