Patapsco Avalon, Red course. This was a great course, and I really enjoyed running it. Pretty accurate navigation except for a few places where I wasn't really sure what I was looking at, but regained map knowledge quickly. I just seem to lose time without really being aware of it.
Mason Neck, Blue course. I kept up a steady pace for the most part, and made route choices more for safety than for speed. But that strategy began to fail towards the end of the run, when I wasn't being careful enough on attack points and bearings. Tired, I guess, mentally and physically.

Gary & Karla's first ever regular season National Mall City Race. 35 controls, 3 hour time limit. It would have been great if only it hadn't been raining. Instead it was pretty cold and miserable. I took the Metro there and back, which was very convenient, but I was so cold and wet on the way back home.
At about 1:30 into the run, I stopped in at the McDonalds on 4th and C (between #154 and #153) to use the restroom. It was warm inside, and smelled good. I was tempted to get a coke and fries. I used large trees two other times. The rain stopped for a while and I warmed up some, but then the rain came back. Towards the end I was losing coordination and couldn't run very well.
I lost my pencil 3 times: once near the start, so I went back and got another; once near the Tidal Basin, but someone gave me one of her spares at Control 104; and once more late in the run, but I was able to find it. I also dropped my score sheet on the sidewalk near McDonalds, but I only had to go back half a block to retrieve it.
Control order: 135, 144, 123 (closed until 11, so I couldn't get inside), 121, 128, 150, 129, 125 (chairs were missing, but the workman said he had just taken out a beaver), 124, 132, 130, 154, 153, 137, 138, 140, 139, 141, 142, 145, 143, 104, 106, 108 (couldn't find the guy's name anywhere in the NW part of the floor, but the standing water over the bricks made them very hard to read), 147, 110, 111, 148, 103 (almost missed this one because the number was so hard to see against the blue), 102, 156.
