10 AM

Trail Running 1:22:41 [3] 7.77 mi (10:38 / mi) +168m 9:58 / mi
shoes: Kayano 25

Rachel Carson Greenway and Northwest Branch trail. I lost the way for a little while just after the first mile. I've been on all of this on various outings before, but I think this is the first time I've done the whole loop. The re-routing of the trail after washouts down towards Colesville road makes the whole thing much nicer. There's not much of the flat gravel surface any more.

Friday Jul 12 #

11 AM

Road running 52:20 [3] 5.4 mi (9:42 / mi) +107m 9:08 / mi
shoes: Kayano 25

Another easy run. New route variation, just to keep things interesting. Looking closely, the track isn't very accurate, but not nearly as bad as yesterday. I'm thinking there's a Garmin 245 in my future.

Wednesday Jul 10 #

11 AM

Road running 52:05 [3] 5.5 mi (9:28 / mi) +108m 8:56 / mi
shoes: Kayano 25

My watch had no idea where I was after about mile 2. And recorded some very weird business right at the end

Tuesday Jul 9 #

9 AM

Road running 1:27:09 [3] 8.88 mi (9:49 / mi) +141m 9:21 / mi
shoes: Kayano 25

Cooler this morning, good day for a longer run. It's clear that the flooding yesterday ran over parts of Beach Drive near Connecticut Ave. And there was a crew with bulldozer and shovels clearing mud out of the tunnel under Conn. Ave.

Monday Jul 8 #

3 PM

Road running 42:17 [3] 4.38 mi (9:39 / mi) +100m 9:01 / mi
shoes: Kayano 25

It rained hard this morning, with flash floods all around. When I went out, it was sunny with a very light rain, which actually felt great. Later on the rain went away and so did the sun.

Sunday Jul 7 #

10 AM

Orienteering 21:03 [4] 1.96 mi (10:44 / mi) +29m 10:16 / mi
shoes: Roclite 290 Black

Bolger Center Sprint #1. Mapped and organized by Nadim. Unexpectedly nice area with open woods, buildings, fields. Four sprint courses available. I did them all pretty much back to back, a drink of water in between. 2.5k, 50m climb, 11 controls.

Orienteering 18:56 [4] 1.8 mi (10:31 / mi) +33m 9:57 / mi
shoes: Roclite 290 Black

Bolger Center Sprint #2. 2.5k, 60m climb, 12 controls.
11 AM

Orienteering 17:13 [4] 1.62 mi (10:38 / mi) +11m 10:25 / mi
shoes: Roclite 290 Black

Bolger Center - Sprint #3. 2.2k

Orienteering 12:43 [4] 1.19 mi (10:41 / mi) +11m 10:23 / mi
shoes: Roclite 290 Black

Bolger Center Sprint #4. Finally tired enough for brain hypoxia to set in. I started off with a 180, correcting only after I noticed I should be in the woods. Another 180 coming out of 3, and went around the north end of the building instead of continuing southeast toward #4. Then headed from 4 to 6, nearly there when I noticed the problem, ran to 5 and back to 6 again. No significant errors on any of the other sprints. 1.4k, 30m climb, 7 controls.
