A little cooler, with a breeze, but still shorts weather. I was actually planning to do a shorter run but I wasn't really thinking and made my way across the Beltway into the National Seminary area, and saw no reason to back out.

55 and sunny! It was muddy and slippery on the trail up out of the creek, and I was pretty slow in there. Pushed the pace a little bit on the final hill coming up Jennings Road, and felt great.

Hey now, 48 degrees and sunny! Until I got ready to go out, when it clouded over. Still, a major change in the weather, and much appreciated. Supposed to be 60 tomorrow.

I slipped and fell yesterday walking the dog. The conditions were extraordinary -- snowmelt, followed by a quick hard freeze, followed by a tenth of an inch of tiny ball bearings of ice. I saw several people go down on the field where I take the dog, and then it was my turn on the way back home. I crushed my little finger on the left hand on the landing, and although it turned rainbow colors I'm sure it's not broken, just a bruise.

Note

I got a covid vax appointment this morning, for March 12. This has been such a weird and distressing process.

This turned out to be a really nice event. The Green course was well-designed and fun to run. I'm a sucker for a sunny sunny day with crunchy snow. Like spring skiing.

I wish I had been paying more attention to where I needed to go. Twice I headed to the wrong control. The first time I corrected quickly enough that no time was lost. The second time I went pretty far off course and was focusing on the circle when it occurred to me that I had been there before. But my navigation was spot-on the whole way and I still nabbed second place.

Actual distance covered: 4.4 miles
