Running 2:59:22 [3] 17.86 km (10:03 / km) +943m 7:57 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 300

HPM looming but I couldn't resist an easy run in the Howgills on such a gorgeous day. From Sedburgh up Arant Haw and The Calf. I was tempted to stay high but I'd promised myself I wouldn't go too far, so descended White Fell. Then got tempted by two smaller summits - Castley Knotts and Brown Moor - because I thought the views would be good and they were. Fell into a stream on the way back down...wet bum and legs. Round the back of Seat Knott and followed the intake wall back to Sedburgh.

Walking 7:20:00 [0]

Assisted on winter skills course run by Graham Uney. Some very unfit and incompetent people in the group so the pace was slow. Sought out wintery conditions in an icy stream/gully and finally summited Blencathra. Great practice for me and esp Shane.

Note

Sport massage from Phil. Legs MOT. The soreness below my left knee might be patellar tendonitis.

Climbing 2:05:00 [4]

Five routes on autobelay to warm up. Then did 3 x 3 power endurance session with Shane (2.5 min rests between reps). I chose another 6c on the lower third of the steep wall. Interestingly I failed on the third rep in the first set, then did all three in the second and third sets. I think I took a while to warm up and then got the moves and shake outs progressively wired. Possibly a fraction too easy for power endurance but pretty sure the harder lines would have been too hard. As Shane said it is easier to train power endurance on circuit board where you can more easily tweek the difficulty. Good redpoint training.

Walking 8:30:00 [0]

Gorgeous Alpine sunny clear crisp winter day and I landed an ML job working on Helvellyn with a BBC film crew and Graham Uney. It was all about his work as fell top assessor and I was there to help keep the crew safe while they filmed him. Very enjoyable day!
