WC long distance.
#1- stopped a bit too low down (30secs)
#2-ok
#3-ok
#4 stopped a bit too early (20secs)
#5 too far north- hit the spurs further north (1:30)
#6-ok
#7-ok
#8- got pulled off by another control (30secs)
#9-ok
#10- overshot the control a bit (think control is slightly misplaced) (30secs)
#11-ok
#12- bearing was a bit off (20secs)
#13- slowed down a bit early (20secs)
#14- didn't see the path across by the resevoir and went all the way round ( 45secs)
#15- stopped too early (20secs)
#16- lost focus a bit and headed quite a bit too far west (30secs)
#17- saw the stony ground and expected the control to be to the south of it, but the stony ground wasn't mapped (1min)
#18-ok
#19- slowed down too soon (20secs)
#20- ok
#21-ok
#22- control was misplaced, so took a while to find it (45secs)
#23- took my time getting up the embankment ( 15secs)
#24- fine

Overall about 7min from a near perfect race, but wasn't too bad, and with everyone else either being sick, unfit or not here- got the win again :)

Western cape middle at Blaauwberg nature reserve- a pretty awesome dune map!!
Really shocking first few controls- struggled a lot to understand the map, but got into it quite nicely after about #10.
#1 went too far east of control (30secs)
#2 think I hit the path pretty much where I had wanted to, but thought I'd be able to see the control from the path, so carried on higher and took a while to find it. (1min)
#3 fine (only because I'd seen it going to #1)
#4 overshot it quite a bit+ was too far east (1min) got caught by Mike here (2min)
#5 stopped a bit short (ended up at #19 first (20secs))
#6 ok
#7 ok
#8 ok
#9 stopped slightly short of the control+ was rather hesitant into it (30secs) (mike stuffed this one up a bit more- so got away from him here)
#10- finish- no real mistakes, just hesitations and not the greatest routes ( 1-2min)
Overall I was pretty happy with it- although I messed around a lot early on, I was able to get into the map a lot better the 2nd half and was reasonably clean considering the terrain :) 1st place by 40secs over Mike :)
