SA sprint champs at UWC. Nice to run in a new area :) Had a decent run, but still nowhere near mike (13:15). Lost most of my time on #7 (20secs- heading straight before realising I had to go around) and #17 (10secs- went to the wrong building corner 1st.) The rest of the course was reasonably clean, just too many hesitations and not pushing myself as hard as I could be. Also need to get my punching quicker- way too slow through the controls..

Ran the UCT memorial route with the club. Was dropping off letters about the race along the way, so good O training with the stop starting. Easy pace the 1st half and then picked it up a bit the 2nd half- last 2km's 3:41 and 3:37 (both with a reasonable amount of climb)

To subway and then back via the bridge.

1-400m hard (60secs- feeling slow....) And then 1.9km easy around the track.

Note

Overall a really good weekend of training!! Only complaints being the massive amount of blackjacks and the long driving times to the sessions (mostly on the 1st day where we went back to Elandskloof in the afternoon+ had to go back to lakenvlei for the night O)

Missed the morning session to go look for my compass at Vlakplaats. Took a jog there from Middeldam. Found the compass in the 1st place I looked+ saw 2 jackal on my way back- so a good morning :)

long training- route choice. 1:15000 map. Ran with Brad and the idea was that for each leg one of us would take paths as much as possible and the other as straight a route as possible (no paths allowed). Changed this on a couple of legs where the path/straight option wouldn't be a viable route choice.

map memory exercise on the ruins map (half the loop memorising 1 leg+ half memorising 2 legs). 1 loop of 2.9km and 1 of 1.9km. Struggled on the 1st loop, but 2nd loop was slightly better.

1st session of the weekend- corridor and line-o exercise.

Corridor- 2.65- 17:59 Struggled a bit getting into the scale at the beginning+ took a bad bearing early on, but 2nd half was good.

Line-O 1.98 , 11:45- 'race' against Mike. Feeling a lot more comfortable with the scale.

night O in Vlakplaats. 2 loops of 2.74km and 2.49km. Not navigating very well.. 21:18

Then went out to collect controls. Managed to lose my compass along the way... But did see a serval, which made up for it a bit :)
