Van Riebeck+ block with Luca. Storm hovering, so staying close to home (Not wanting to be caught in the lightning).

Body still not feeling 100%...

Easy with Luca. He was on a proper go-slow today, so after 2km it was very slow going.

Westway, park, back of 4ways, robin, n.manor, home.

Spent most of the day in bed not feeling great, so just got out for the minimum.

3 laps of the block with Luca.

Helping out at the schools league event at Helpmekaar.

Ran the senior boys course afterwards. Gave Brad a 1:30 headstart and tried to catch him. Caught him at 21, but then he got a bit of energy and held me off to the finish.

running 14:31 [2] 3.07 km (4:43 / km) +62m 4:17 / km

3 laps of the block with Luca.

Nice light drizzle. (Though a little bit over rain after getting absolutely soaked putting out controls this afternoon...)

Sprint race at Roedean/st John's.

Nice relatively technical area and course which meant lots of hesitations and small errors with my very rusty Sprint O.

No big mistakes, but probably 10 or so controls which I lost about 5sec or so on (Not best route/hesitating/stopping to try see the map) and one 10 sec mistake where I didn't see a path through the dark green and ran around. So in the end those add up to quite a significant amount. (1min +).

Physically okay, not amazing. Definitely felt yesterday a bit in the 2nd half.

Finished 4th in the end, Yannick Michiels winning in 20:02, Oystein kvaal 2nd in 20:19 and Chris Smithard 3rd in 20:54.

Pretty happy with how close I was to them, but don't think any were pushing particularly hard after a tough few weeks of training.

Heronbanks parkrun (at the vaal river). Nice single lapper around a golf estate with a bit along the edge of the river.

Pretty flat, but very muddy today, so not super fast. (Also did a little extra in one section where I didn't know the route).

Planned on a bit of a tempo effort. Might've pushed a little harder than tempo, but still fairly relaxed.

Paddling 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km)

At the Vaal river for the day. Took the kayak out for a bit of a paddle. Havent paddled in ages and the arms felt it!!. Pretty slow going paddling on my own in a pretty big kayak.

running 27:19 [3] 6.22 km (4:23 / km) +63m 4:11 / km

Post dinner-at-the-grandparents run around 4ways gardens.

Probably a bit too soon after dinner, feeling very heavy..

Nice and easy besides for 2 pretty hard 400m efforts to get a couple segments. (And to get the legs moving in preparation for destroying Yannick at Sunday's orienteering ;) )
