Perry back to Hoare with a bit of hacking along the way. Had then planned on getting a lift back down with the chopper, but they'd ended up leaving early because of "bad weather" (turned out to be a perfect almost windless day actually..) so then back down to vredehoek as well.

Really good weekend in the hex! Lots of time on the legs and although nothing particularly hard effort, it was all at a reasonable pace over fairly rugged terrain, with the knee feeling pretty strong :)

Hoare hut- Perry refuge with Claire. (about 4hours actual). Stuck higher up in the ridgeline section to get some views down Fonteintjies side. Then a sunset walk up the scree and to the peak next to Sentinel. Forgot a bit just how cool the views from here are!!!

Another lovely hot day, with the pool at Perry much appreciated! Also another night under the stars which was great :D

hiking 5:00:00 [3] 18.0 km (16:40 / km) +2500m 9:50 / km

Heli hack happening at the hut this weekend, and finally getting the new table top up there :)

Felt wrong to get a lift up, so had a nice solid effort up to the hut, starting at vredehoek (so an extra few km's to get to the normal parking). About 2 hours or so up. Did a bit of ski and table top couriering at the hut, and then headed off with Claire, up to Waaihoek, down to the saddle, and then all the way down the Witels tributary until barrier falls. Forgot quite how long the forest section is. So coooooooll!!! Then did a quick mission down to Disa falls and back, and then up Happy hill and back to the hut.

Lekker day on the mountain. Good combo of mountains+rivers, and lots of swimming!! :)

On the Slangkop map with Sarah. Think this was actually the first O map I ran in Cape Town back in 2011. It was old then, so even more so now :p

Definitely one of the coolest locations, with awesome views of both Noordhoek/Hout bay side, as well as Cape point side. Map is mostly rock detail and contours, so for the most part things haven't changed much. Definitely some slightly weird rock mapping/simplification though (not that I'd want to try map this...)

Just ran behind Sarah and followed along on the map, and then we'd take a little while at the controls to confirm the location. Pretty should for the most part though :)

Nice to do a little bit of O. Been a while.

Think the long run on Sat hit my immune system a bit (fair enough). Spent the last few days taking it very chilled getting over it
