Rogaine race (Paddy Pallin Rogaine) 5:55:00 [3] 34.0 km (10:26 / km) +1480m 8:34 / km
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D

Wanted to do a longer race so opted for the rogaine rather than metro.

not the best start with an Epica concert the night before, so with going to bed at 1:30am and waking up at 3:50am leaving at 4:50am (was planned 4:30)

Ran with Jason, we seemed to do well as a team, pushing each other running, most of the bad nav decisions/suggestions were corrected before we lost any time.

small losses on 33,41,60,51,30,92,52,53,61

probably lost the most time at 41/60/92

not sure if 52 was right

towards the end we were both struggling with nav and were trying to be careful (checking out spurs before we hit the right one just in case)

minor ankle sprain to 90

took water after 3 hrs and had a 20 min break, taped both feet where i could feel blisters threatening.

struggled from about the 3 to 4.5 hr mark but felt much better in the last 90 mins.

we dropped 55 from our plans but had just enough time to finish with 52/53/61, we were worried that we may have had to finish via 22 which looked like a huge climb for 20 points to the finish

overall pretty happy with the effort.

Orienteering race (sl1) 46:14 [3] 4.8 km (9:38 / km) +126m 8:31 / km

A bit late for a write up ...

minor errors at 6 (hit ant nest then went around for some reason), 9 (got to circle then searching right rather than left) and 11 (navigated to gully rather than gap in cliff near control, got stuck in green while there), but overall happy with run

finished 2nd in M35 a long way from 1st and 3rd place ..

managed to beat some big names in M21 though..
