Pulled up to the Whitestones KWL race to see the adult race charging out onto the fell and quickly realised that we'd missed the start. Oh dear - what a wally I am.

Tried to salvage the day by emulating the race on Whitbarrow Scar. Feeling good but once I was out on the top the pace dropped dramatically as first the quagmire and then the crosswind made both out and back on the ridge hell. Went back up to the top and was actually still feeling strong. My legs seem to have regained the ability to dig deep on climbs - it's a good feeling!

Long one on the trails as it was proper grim today. First part with the gang - Al, Matt, Katie and Christoff then the rest on my own. Pub, Tilberthwaite, Holme Fell, Tarn Hows woods, Grizedale, Hawkshead Hill, Tarn Hows, Oxen Fell, pub.

First 8km was very relaxed with lots of stopping, then got going without ever pushing. Hard work today as the Lakes is about as wet as I've ever seen it due to the rain and snow melt. Grizedale was just one big marsh - should've kept to forest tracks. Then started to fade on the road at the end so cut it short slightly. Grizedale would be a great place for a long hard run.

Feeling good tonight. Possibly just went off too hard on the ones and couldn't sustain it - died pretty dramatically on the last one! Had been a little concerned about my R Achilles beforehand but it went away during the WU so carried on and didn't feel it again. Running mainly with Matt who was on an easy session and just ahead of Jacob who was surprisingly quick for an ultra runner! Another one to add to blue and green army.
