From Kendal to Longsleddale

KWL - Longsleddale - 3rd

Fantastic course with two big climbs, a sketchy forest descent and a 2km trudge through a marsh. Josh Jardine got a small gap over me and Mike Ainsworth on the first climb with a sizeable gap behind. Reeled Josh in on the descent through the woods and all three of us turned at the bottom side by side. Super intense hairpin climb up through the woods where Josh slightly gapped me and I slightly gapped Mike. Then we got out onto the fell for the marsh trudge. Kept Josh within 10secs for most with Mike tucked in behind until I took a different route to avoid knee deep bog and Mike got a small gap. Couldn't quite close down as my intensity faded a little. We turned onto the descent with Josh 20 secs ahead of Mike who was 10 ahead of me. Tried to close but couldn't quite and once I realised they were gone I opted for risk adverse. Sketchy descent and knew my hamstring was twinging a bit.

Thoroughly enjoyable race. Had wanted a good hard race and boy did I get one! Love racing with Josh as he just goes as hard as he can constantly. We were well clear of the rest of the field in the end. Feeling strong on the hills but lacked a little strength through the marsh. Moving in the right direction...

Very snowy Coniston w/ Haz, Annie and Abdelnoor. Feeling really good on the climb and had to keep holding myself back. I think last weeks rest may not have hampered my progress as much as I had feared. Hamstring seems okay too. Stretched out a bit on the lower slopes of the Old Man and didn't seem too unhappy.

Along the Scar with Al in fading light with the snowy hills in the background. Got to be up there with the best views in the Lakes.

In other news: we're moving to Staveley and I'm beyond excited. Checked the flood maps and we're outside of the flood zone so it's all systems go.

Long over-due stretching, rolling and balling session. Felt much better for it but still tight in groin and hips. Calves eased significantly.
