Running 36:40 [5] 6.7 km (5:28 / km) +411m 4:11 / km

Longsleddale KWL - 3rd

Managed to grind out a half decent pace up the first hill but legs not happy at all - mainly just destroyed quads. Got to the top with Ted Mason with MMB and Jebb about 30 secs ahead. Reeled them in on the techy descent but as we reached about half way down Rob and MMB lost the flags. I saw them out to the left and shouted them across but we'd all dropped low. I got back to the route first and then led down the descent to valley bottom.

Started the second climb and the legs were screaming. John Helme came past at half way, quickly followed by Jebby and then Ted, before MMB came through too. Just about clung on to Ted and John as we sumitted before the long slog across the marsh. I'd walked half the climb and the legs didn't feel half as bad on the flat marsh so managed to pull away from John and Ted and I started to close in on MMB. There was a final incline before the descent to the finish and I knew I'd need a gap on Ted to hold him off. Managed to push on and got about 30m by the start of the descent. Hammered the descent as hard as I could and pulled in MMB by half way but then it just got way too runnable and I could hear Ted coming. I didn't have a leg speed to match and away he went.

Very fun race and happy to grind out a result with the legs being in such a state. 50sec PB from last year.

MTB back over to Staveley. Absolute death march across the marsh and I was bonking big time by the end.

Running 3:27:10 [2] 22.3 km (9:17 / km) +2113m 6:18 / km

Howgills recce with Elk, John Hoosen and Rhys plus dogs. Gonna be one brutal race. Steep climb after steep climb. Not a lot of room for running bar the last climb up Winder. Unsure whether I'm excited or nervous for the race now!

Day of rest. Massage with Tierney followed by some fairly zen deep stretchy yoga with Yoga Paul.

Running 55:04 [3] 11.35 km (4:51 / km) +204m 4:27 / km

Lunch run up Whitbarrow from work. It was glorious up there and only needed t-shirt and shorts. Felt like summer running. Must go at lunch more often!
6 PM

Running 59:18 [5] 11.63 km (5:06 / km)

AAC Track session - 8 x 3mins (90s off)

Aiming at 60 sec laps. Didn't drop off much towards the end - great session but mentally quite a tough one.

Easy running round the river. Despite horrendous doms legs feeling fairly good. Why didn't they feel like this last Saturday?!

Strength and Conditioning 31:00 [1]

Good session - skipped anything leg related as still very sore from Saturday.

Nice sunset ride around Kentmere just about beating the fading light. Perfect time of day for barn owl watching.
