Howgills - DNF (first ever)

Well that didn't go to plan. Legs screaming as soon as we hit the first climb. From then on I was in a world of pain going backwards quickly for an hour and a bit before coming to the realisation that it wasn't my day. Real shame but plenty of other races to get stuck into.

I took a lot of stick at the end (and rightly so) but I'm putting it down to a sign of maturity thinking about the long-term rather than crawling round hours behind the leaders just to say I've finished. I think I probably could've finished the race but I felt fairly similar to Jura last year and that ended in me being sick into the hotel bath so to avoid a similar fate I decided to cut my losses, recover, and move onto the next race. It took me the best part of a month to recover from Jura. Really hard decision but upon reflection definitely the right one.
