Running 40:33 [5] 10.7 km (3:47 / km) +250m 3:24 / km

KMF 10k - 3rd

Set off slow as legs felt a bit naff and hoped to give them a chance of perking up a bit with a slower start. Sat in about 20th till half way up the road and then started to move through. Tom Adams and Chris Richards were already clear but that was pretty inevitable. Moved past a large sea of turquoise and set my eyes on T Fell. Got along side him and gave him the Armstrong stare to which there was no response. Game face. Then closed down Joe Kenny and an Ilkley guy and eventually moved away right at the top of the road section.

TAddison and a fast starting Pete Harrison were now the only guys between me and the leading two so worked on closing them down on the drag up to the top path along the ridge. Caught and passed Pete just before the turn and got to within 30m of Tom Addison. This gap stayed the same for the next 5km or so along the ridge until I heard someone pull up onto my shoulder. Had a sinking feeling it was Fellbaum for de ja vu from last year but thankfully it was Pete. He had found a second wind and I tucked in behind. Dug in for a couple of minutes and eventually we closed Tom down just before the bridge. My legs suddenly had a bit of life in them so attacked up the hill where Fellbaum had so mercilessly dropped me last year and got a nice gap. Hit the descent hard and kept in front until the finish. Very pleasing performance - the hard work is definitely starting to pay off.

Swapped a morning jog for a cycle over to Steve's to help him with the house. Cold, especially when I rode through knee deep flood water. 30km.

Ulverston O - 2nd

Fairly easy orienteering but that's normally when I switch off and make mistakes so pleased to get it pretty much bang on bar missing a little cut through to #1. 11 secs down on Matt.

Hill session - 4x80secs, 4x60, 4x40 (thanks goes to Will for the inspiration)

Felt a bit lethargic and tired on the first rep but then got into it and was moving well after that. Feeling so much stronger than when I first started doing these hill sessions.
