running 59:14 [3] 9.25 km (6:24 / km) +46m 6:15 / km

Didn't get enough sleep and this was a bit of a slog.

Another beautiful day. A tall ship parked in Camp Cove; a yacht with its spinnaker out on the harbour. Musing over the transfer duty forecasts. Also, how to build a bit of speed by July next year.

For the moment, I just want to keep building up the base. I think I can probably only fit in about 6.5 km on a typical lunch break, but if I can get in 8 km once a week, that would take me up to 34 km during the week. With weekend runs, I should be able to get to about 60 km/week.

Let's see if I can get there without getting injured.

Lovely weather, and a gentle run. Gradually building a base, while trying not to get injured.

Back home at lunchtime for some stove repairs. This time under warranty from the last repairs in February. Unimpressed by the reliability of a Miele induction cooktop.

Fitted in a run while waiting for the next ferry back to work.

Melbourne Cup day. Thought the Botanic Gardens would be quiet at 3pm, but no, there was a party boat moored in Camp Cove, booming out for all. Virtually all the Domain was fenced off, as was the point between the Governor's House and the Opera House. No idea why. Mused upon population growth, and the challenges of imperceptible incremental changes.

Made time for a lunchtime run, but then the skies darkened, and a torrent swept through the city. So, it was back to Plan B, and an evening run. Feeling a bit sluggish after the weekend's runs.

Street-O at Ramsgate. Good running temperature, dead flat, pretty fast by my standards.

And with a penalty for every part of a minute for going over time, I was happy to have a time ending in 59 seconds.
