running 40:47 [3] 7.01 km (5:49 / km) +70m 5:32 / km
ahr:154 max:173

Conked out at 4km. Sat and watched the sunset. Then finished the run. Not sure what's going on. I don't seem to have any endurance lately.

My run sucked.

7 PM

running 37:48 [3] 6.55 km (5:46 / km) +43m 5:35 / km
ahr:158 max:176

Going along the bay entails a few too many hard surfaces, and my calves were feeling sore, so I did loops of Birchgrove Oval as the light faded.

Wednesday Feb 7 #

1 PM

running 29:15 [3] 5.16 km (5:40 / km) +63m 5:20 / km
ahr:161 max:174

My legs were feeling a little sore, and I was a bit tired, so not a long one today.

Booked flights to Tasmania last night. Just Easter - can't stay for the Bay of Fires, which actually looks like better terrain.

It's amusing watching the recriminations going on over the filing cabinet sold at auction with Cabinet documents inside. It has a curious mix of material, spanning two governments, and highly classified material. It must have belonged to a Dep Sec who retired or went overseas , and was then thought unnecessary. But it includes material as recent as 2014, so it didn't languish in a basement for long before being accidentally sold.

In other news, Elon Musk has put a Tesla into space.

10x hill sprints in the Botanic Gardens. Felt pretty tired at the end, and my heart rate shows why.

An Indian family was sitting under a tree watching me run up the hill. There was a little boy, maybe three, who was obviously interested by what I was doing. When I got to the start of the 7th hill, he was there waiting for me. As I turned to run up the hill, he turned and started racing me. With a 10 m├Ętre start, he had gone about 3 metres by the time I got him. Pleased to know I'm faster than a 3 year old.

Monday Feb 5 #

7 PM

running 47:13 [3] 8.01 km (5:54 / km) +80m 5:37 / km
ahr:162 max:180

Didn't feel like going out for a run after putting Elodie to bed, but then it was ok once I got out the door. Felt sluggish to begin with, but then felt fine along the bay, then sluggish again going up the hill in Rozelle. Was going to stop at 7k when I got back to the Balmain shops, but I was 40 seconds beyond 6 minute pace, so I decided to put some speed on down the hill. Finished with a 4:30 for the last km, and an average pace of 5:54. I'm trying to get my average pace for February below 6 minutes.

Was preoccupied through much of my run by my neighbours' unwillingness to allow us to extend our home. The joys of strata.

Note

Late at night, I stumble onto a livestream of the Stockholm Indoor Cup. Absolutely amazing. I loved watching a mother walk steadily through the maze with her baby strapped to her chest in a Baby Bjorn, while all about there was mayhem. Or people running through the maze, and then realising that the control was right there, somewhere at ground level.
6 PM

running 38:48 [3] 6.57 km (5:54 / km) +59m 5:39 / km
ahr:161 max:175

Brief run along the bay, cut slightly short to make sure I was back in time for dinner. Thinking of buying a weekender. Have to do a spreadsheet.
