Stockrington West M50 (Hard 4)

Another State League event. Another one that got away.

I had the lead in the middle of the course, and then surrendered it at #7, when I came in a bit too high, passing just above the watercourse end without seeing the control. I carried on for a wee while, before turning round and going lower. Winsplits says I lost 2.5 minutes there, and I came second by less than 1.5 minutes.

I also lost almost 2 minutes to Peter on #9, running the wiggly track. Even though I fell over on this leg, I couldn't figure out how I was so much slower. I was running pretty hard through there, and I had no trouble finding the control. It was only after looking at the splits that I noticed the option of running on the road, which was only slightly to the right of my wiggly track. D'ohh!

But I was pretty fast over the last two legs, clawing back almost a minute. So that's pleasing.
