2 PM

Skating (ice) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: CCM Super Tacks 852

Stick and puck @ St. Peters Rec Plex w/ both kiddos. They actually enforce the 12 yr and under policy and have a 25 person limit on the ice. FAR superior to Lindenwood this time of year (sorry Lindenwood).

Swim 18:00 [3]

Another gym session. Daughter apologized profusely and promised there wouldn't be another outburst. She stuck to her word. Freestyle still isn't great, but is getting easier. Breast stroke is slow, but sustainable.
1 PM

Run (paved) 36:12 [3] 3.56 mi (10:10 / mi) +453ft 9:05 / mi
shoes: Hoka One One Kailua Trail

Running around in-laws somewhat hilly subdivision.
4 PM

Skating (ice) 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: CCM Super Tacks 852

Free skate @ Brentwood Ice Arena w/ kiddos. Practically had the place to ourselves. First skate on my new-to-me CCMs. Found them practically un-used for a fab price @ Play it Again Sports. A much tighter/more agressive fit than my Grafs. Took a bit to get used to them but LOVED them. Logging half time.

Run (treadmill) 15:00 [3]

Hubby in northern Ontario hanging out w/ moose and walleye for the next 2 weeks so getting a little fitness time is a bit more complicated. Mostly wanting to boost my pathetic swimming so brought kiddos to the gym's Kids Club except all pool lanes were taken and I'm not good enough to share lanes w/ somebody (IMO). So a little bit of treadmill time instead.

Circuit Training 12:00 [4]

x2:
- jump rope 2 min
- 60 sec plank
- 15 pushups
- 12# ball slam x15
- hip adduction/abduction

Strength 3:00 [4]

Went to get kiddos and daughter was having a ball in Kids Club (son wasn't). I had promised only 30 min. there so we had to go plus we had dinner/chores/etc. @ home. She threw a HUGE tantrum because she didn't want to go. I actually had to have son carry bag/purse so I could pick her up kicking/screaming/spit flying as we exited the gym. Lots of looks! Wow. That came out of nowhere and I haven't dealt w/ it for at least 4 years. She's much heavier now!!

Swim 20:00 [3]

Since our boat time got cut short yesterday, decided to give it another try for a half-day. Marina manager felt so bad about yesterday's storm carnage, that he insisted we take the monster party boat complete w/ upper deck, twisty slide into the water, and free gas (we weren't planning to use much, but still). Kids were drooling! We much prefer person-powered boats, but had to admit it was fun. Impressed w/ Clearwater Lake - a Corps flood-control lake built in the 40s and surrounded entirely by undeveloped forest. Not sure about the whole flood-control philosophy, but it sure is a scenic lake and very lightly used. Would love to explore more someday.

Swim 20:00 [3]

Rented pontoon boat @ Clearwater Lake and had a morning of swimming/tubing fun. Out for a couple hours but only 20 min or so of fitness-worthy activity. Time got cut short by a ginormous t-storm that was bearing down on us as we sped back to marina. BIG, crazy chop by the time we got there and dock boys were wild-eyed and frantic wondering how these chumps (us) were going to safely dock the boat in their little, narrow slip. Hubby guided it in w/ cool, calm precision much to their great amazement (mine too). They even cheered! Our hero.
5 PM

Run (paved) 57:23 [3] 5.58 mi (10:17 / mi)
shoes: Hoka One One Kailua Trail

From our cabin, run on the Corps' Lake Trail @ Clearwater Lake. Crazy-humid and hot.

Tuesday Jul 5, 2016 #

10 AM

Hiking (trail) 20:00 [1]

Left Eminence and headed for Piedmont. Hiking at Blue Spring (this Blue Spring was on the Current River).
6 PM

Swim 12:00 [3]

12 minutes of "laps" in the pool at our cabin place. Laps in quotes because it wasn't a lap pool but I did the best I could.

Monday Jul 4, 2016 #

9 AM

Paddling (river) 4:00:00 [2] 8.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

Family kayak trip on the Jacks Fork. Hubby and I each had a tandem kayak w/ one kid. This was their first "real" float trip. Cool and drizzly meant that the river was empty. Chill pace w/ lots of crawdad hunting. A couple tense moments through rapids. Everyone stayed upright! This was the only section of river open in the Nat. Scenic Riverways - everything else closed due to high water and flash flooding.
3 PM

Hiking (trail) 30:00 [1] 1.5 mi (20:00 / mi)

Alley Spring/Alley Mill hike and tour.

Sunday Jul 3, 2016 #

Hiking (trail and cave) 2:00:00 [2] 5.0 mi (24:00 / mi)
shoes: Hoka One One Kailua Trail

- Round Spring
- Round Spring Cave flashlight tour (2 mi total)...awesome! Not for the claustrophobic
- Devil's Well
- Blue Spring on the Jacks Fork River...a bit of interesting local flavor on the (rather rugged) approach, but the gravel bar we settled at was absolutely stunning. High rocky cliffs w/ wildflowers tucked in pockets all the way up made an amazing backdrop to cool turquoise spring water. Fish galore. My most memorable part of the vacation.

Saturday Jul 2, 2016 #
