Bike 1:59:55 [3] 20.0 mi (10.0 mph)
ahr:133

Finally a ride that shows me I'm improving in fitness -- not because it was that long, fast, or on particularly technical terrain (Broemmelsiek), but because by the end of the ride, I really wasn't that tired at all and my legs still felt like they had plenty of power. Yay!

Run 1:11:30 [3] 6.8 mi (10:31 / mi)
ahr:144 shoes: Inov8 Trail Roc 245

Trail run at Matson Hil CP. The plan was to run the Matson and Oxen Mill loops plus the Hayes trail out and back (O&B supposed to be a total of 1.2 mi.). But the Hayes trail seemed to just go on and on -- well beyond what felt like .6 mi. So I turned around, finished the run, and thought "Man, that was a long 6.1 mi.!". But when I got home, hubby (Mr. GORC trail builder himself) told me he thought they added to the trail. Sure enough, a quick check on the web confirmed that. So my distance is an estimate.

SWEET trails - gotta get out there with the bike!

Bike hills (gravel and doubletrack) 40:14 [3] 7.8 mi (11.6 mph)
ahr:142

Two Hamburg/LV hill laps - cut the ride short to pick up my little sweetie from school then drop the bike at Momentum to finally fix the tire.

Hopefully I am getting something out of these short but intense sessions! One thing is for sure -- I can handle that steep little climb from LV up to Hamburg no problem.

Circuit Training 1:30:00 [3]

Cathe Friedrich 4 Day Split (drills plus heavy legs and core). Yep - another video. There was a time when I would have thumbed my nose at this stuff but 1) I firmly believe strength and careful cross-training are the keys to my rehab and future injury prevention and 2) these are super-challenging workouts that I can do at home, at night, with absolutely nothing else preventing them from happening (except my own personal discipline!).

Yeah, more running and/or more cycling would probably be better at improving my running/cycling performance but at this stage in the game, this stuff feels like the right thing to do.

Bike hills 53:10 [3] 10.3 mi (11.6 mph)
ahr:147

Did my Hamburg/Lost Valley "hill laps" -- from work down Hamburg to LV connector, down and up the big gravel hill, turn around, down and up the steep gravel hill to Hamburg, R on Hamburg to bottom of long hill, turn around, back to LV connector and repeat -- 3 laps total. I'm still riding on my sliced rear tire w/ a tube in it so am trying to keep my late afternoon rides closer to work so mechanical issues (flats!) won't be as much of an issue. Got kiddos waiting for me!

I did basically the same ride on July 31, pushed just as hard on that one (plus it was one of those 100+ degree days), and this ride was only a little bit faster. Kinda disappointing.

Run 46:53 [3] 4.5 mi (10:25 / mi)
ahr:146 shoes: Inov8 Trail Roc 245

Managed to squeak out of work for a quick out-and-back on the Clark Trail. Pretty aggressive on the hills. HR monitor has revived.

No horses on this trail so instead of skipping around doo, the trick is to avoid the persimmon goo...on your shoe.

Bike intervals (trainer) 1:30:15 [3]

Was planning a night ride but the thunder and lightning rollled in so I took my workout indoors. Basically did fast spin at beginning and end and 2 min. on/3 min. off for about an hour. Nothin' fancy, but a decent workout.
10 PM

Strength/Stretch 25:00 [1]

Strength = hip adduction/abduction, VMO, glut. med., core
Stretch = static
