Run 40:19 [3] 3.8 mi (10:37 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Trail Roc 245

Quick spin on the Clark Trail. Ahhh...nice pretty woods with lots of crunchy leaves underfoot. Although I like it out west, it's good to be back in Missouri!

Note
(rest day)

Back from Denver. Wish I could have slipped in a "wilderness excursion" while I was out there, but it just wasn't possible this trip.

Felt exceptionally wiped out, so I went to bed when the kiddos did and got lots of much-needed sleep.

Run (Treadmill) 25:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Trail Roc 245

Treadmill run @ lame hotel fitness room. Easy stuff. Really NOT my favorite way of getting physical activity, but hey, I did something (instead of nothing).

On a brighter note, my presentation went well yesterday and today was an awesome "insider" tour of the new NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) Energy Systems Integration Facility. Still under construction, it will be over 185,000 sq. ft. when complete and hands-down world class in terms of research capabilities (LEED Gold or Platinum too). Cool stuff.

Run intervals (Treadmill) 43:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Trail Roc 245

Treadmill run @ Westminster City Park Fitness Center. My original plan was to run the park trails, then do the stationary cycle, but I received very alarmed looks by the Center employees when I asked for a trail map. "It's almost dark -- you're going to run alone at nght out there??!!?", they nearly shrieked. Turns out, there had recently been some very unpleasant crime in the park (involving a lone woman nighttime runner) and the perp was still on the loose...ick. So I opted for the treadmill. Perp was caught 2 days later -- this was big local news. Turns out the runner wasn't his only victim.

If you've ever been to Westminster, CO, then you know it's squeaky-clean suburbia. You just never know...I think it pays to trust your gut and heed caution if something doesn't feel right, no matter how "safe" you think the area is.

Got a pretty decent interval workout on the treadmill though.

Bike intervals (Stationary) 45:00 [3]

Fairly intense stationary cycle ride @ the Westminster fitness center. Resistance was kind of silly -- it ranged between 1 and 20 and I had to jack it up to 16 in order to get some tough "hills". I'm certainly no hammerhead pro cyclist, so clearly this expensive machine wasn't meant for someone like that.

Hiking (Airport hoofing w/ pack) 48:00 [2]

Backpack + purse = 20 pounds. Biz trip to Denver this week and gates in STL and DIA were quite far-flung. That fact plus heavier-than-normal carry-ons made this legit to log (in my mind, anyway!).

Rental ended up being more fun than the typical compact car -- bright yellow Fiat 500!
9 PM

Strength/Stretch 15:00 [2]

Some light stretching and Theraband strength work in my hotel room before bed.
