Backcountry skiing 2:30:00 [1] 5.44 km (27:34 / km) +300m 21:37 / km

Noseeum Creek with Peter.
Just looking to get out for a walk in the gear and get used to everything again. Had an invite to ski Aemmer Couloir but figured that was a bit much to go for on the first day of the season. Another time, when I am in the swing of things.
Coverage was a bit thin on the ski in, which we expected. As per the guide book we stayed on the right side of the creek but in current conditions this sent us onto the rock pile which was slow going (with full coverage you probably just follow the creek for the easiest and quickest access, probably only about 45 minutes to the slope we skied). Aborted that, crossed the creek to the other side and had no difficulty getting through the forest.
Skied the north facing slope. About 15 cm on top of a supportive crust but the main concern was watching out for sharks just below the surface. I got away with barely a light scratch or two but it was stressful skiing so we decided against any more laps. Went back to the climber’s left of the creek again and followed it all the way back to the road without issue.
Now I feel like I will wait for enough coverage to be able to do good turns but it was nice to get this day under my belt before upcoming trips.
