Big sushi feed last night with Myka, Amik and Carbon. Then drove around to see the northern lights. Had a few minutes of good viewing near Lake Minnewanka. The Big Dipper's scoop was full of light.

Biking (Mountain) 1:55:00 [2] 17.0 km (6:46 / km)

Randy Savage and Quebexican with Carbon, Annie, Violet and Jenna.
Great trail! I've wanted to check out Randy Savage for a long time but part of it has been shut down (it runs through a wildlife corridor that you can't have a bike trail in but they can build condos and house there soon...).
Rode and pushed what will be the Highline extension that avoids this area. Very cool trail, some good climbing and technical descending. It was extra exciting with everything being a little greasy.
Great to be getting good riding in so late in the season. It was chilly but still did okay even though I wasn't bundled up.
Can't wait to go back and ride Randy Savage again when it is a little drier and the Highline Extension is more worked in. So great to keep discovering more trails here!
Followed up with a big feed of snacks and ginger beer at Annie's.

Warm-up incl. spin ups and leg openers
45 min E3 with 20 sec AnP spin ups every 5 minutes (9 of them)
4 min easy
3 x } 6 x 40 sec MAP, 20 sec easy (4 min easy between the 3 sets)
Cool-down

Underperformed on the workout a little, I think because my head was a little fried from work stress today. Was often a bit below the target zones but seemed to be working as hard. Got a bit better in the second half of the workout. Still put in a hard effort and accomplished a good workout.

The PowerTap seemed like it was reading high, significantly higher than the Tacx Flow (the PowerTap usually reads a little lower than the Flow). Need to recalibrate.

Running (Trail) 56:00 [2] 7.3 km (7:40 / km) +167m 6:53 / km
shoes: Salomon Propulse 2nd pair

Horseshoe loop staying on the lower trail from the beginning, with Myka and Carbon. Nice out, not too cool, was able to try out my new man-pri tights, the first time I've had a pair of this length. Kept the pace down just a little so that I preserve energy for tomorrow's spin.
Myka arrived in a brand new puffy jacket that looks fantastic on her :)

shoes: Salomon Sense Propulse

Out and back on High Rockies Trail from the Goat Creek trailhead with a big fun crew from Canmore Trail Culture. I wasn't too excited about all the double track on this end of the trail but figured that if I am going to see it just once, it would be a lot more bearable with company. As it turned out, I hardly noticed the trail, I was too busy socializing; the non-technical double track was probably really good for this.
Trip to keep the intensity down because I have so many fun opportunities for intense workouts in my week but need to find more time to do slow easy base work. Still, it was really tempting to just throw that out the window and run hard or tempo - more fun :)
Then went for great food and visiting at Communitea Cafe after with Carbon, Annie, Chelsea and Krista and we schemed our plan to buy a big school bus, convert it to live in, and travel around with all our gear for biking, surfing etc etc etc.
