Lake Minnewanka with Slice, Carbon and Steve. Kat Pow joined us for the first 6 km.
Enjoyed a long break on the beach by the ranger cabin. Then continued on to LM22 campsite. I especially enjoyed this section past the cabin that we don’t ride often. The trail isn’t as wide and feels a little more adventurous but was clear and pretty smooth. Some bikers told us it got chunkier after km 22.
Raced back at a fun fast clip despite being out of snacks and a little bonky.
Such a fun day.

Dirtbags
Started early with some Llew warm ups. I think they helped.
Jogged from Rundle bridge parking, the long way over the engine bridge to the power plant stairs.

6 x 5 min fairly hard, alternating 5 min doing laps up the stairs and down the trail, then 5 min out and back on flat, with about 3 min of rest in between.
Then ran back the short way.

Prospector with Erin, Janet and Michelle. Beautiful evening. Sessioned a couple of things. Rode the upper slab drop beside the ladder without looking. Rode the high bridge over the skinny section.
Next time, try the ladder ramp drop?
Rode the bridge across the dry creek and took the left line. Next time, wheelie manual off the right line.
Rode the big smooth slab. Not sure when i will feel bold enough to try the line further right.

Canmore Trail Culture
Led the mid-caff group on a loop through the Horseshoe trails with several climbs and then across the creek for a short loop up onto Montane and down behind our place.

Did some warm up drills and stretches before and they seemed to help.

Slush Cup day at Sunshine Village.
Watched some slush cup, saw some friends take a cold swim.
Toured various parts of the mountain looking for the good snow. Crusty and icy up high, then found good (and sometimes a little deep) corn snow off Wawa and Wolverine. Great carving, lapped a few prime runs several times. The Black Diamond Converts did pretty well. Joined up with a couple of ladies in their sixties who I suspected must have had racing backgrounds, their technique was awesome. Sure enough, when we parted ways at the end of the day, one of them picked up a team backpack and proceeded to tear down the hill.
A fun finish to an amazing ski season. The good carving today made me want another month.
